Have you tried doing the tutorial?
Have you looked at the FAQ? It is explained there that the most important thing you have to understand is that you should not aim on or close to the lines.

The Speed Display Unit option is in the SETTINGS>GAME menu.
as for the shots, i dont understand what the point of accelerating the strong shot is, since it always misses for me. ive been using the strong shot more consistently now, but ive never landed an accelerated strong shot. it feels weird to use and i wish at least you could use it on shoulder height balls or something.
There are separate areas for different tournament tiers, and every tournament has a logo displayed showing you which category it is. As in real life, there are no on/off criteria for being able to register to a tournament, it depends on your ranking and the rankings of players who have already registered.
If you have a character named Federer inside the game, it comes from a mod you have installed. And in that case all character stats were also set through that mod, so you would have to ask the people who created the mod the reasons why they picked stats for each character.
Strong shots with double tap are very risky, basically you should only use them on high balls close to the net, and still keep a wide margin from the lines.
Characters shipped with the game don't bear real life names and as such stats aren't supposed to reflect real life players, which would be an impossible task anyway. The editor allows users to tune stats as they think is best.
Maybe it works for other games to give well defined instructions on how to use each shot, but Full Ace is more meant like a tennis simulation sandbox, and very much like in real life, there is nothing clear cut about using which shot in which situation. It depends on which character you're using, play style, which character you're playing against, the specific conditions of the current situation, etc...
