It's a fun game, but the original game has a lot limitations and not match the real history. I played like 100-200 hours and have no more interest. But I found the mod called "New General Collection", these mods make this game 100000X fun than the original. That's why I can play 1000 hours.

There are just so many things I cannot get behind with this game. If you like building armies and such, do not buy this. I have played and loved so many of the TW games, but this one is annoying. I HATE how you build your army, having to always have a captain or general to recruit troops (not 1 general, 1 general per 6 units). The building system is horrible. One of your towns is making something, so someone else can't build anything in an entirely different town? Then there's the whole "have to keep your generals happy" mechanic. That's awful. And on top of that, it's slow/boring. There are so many factions and it take so long to get anywhere, that by the time you attack whatever you want, there's another army attacking another part of your area because you literally cannot afford to defend it. I really do not like this game.
