RTX 5080 Green Artifacts in Battles (Driver 572.42) (Solution Found)
Hello everyone,

I recently purchased an RTX 5080 series graphics card and started using it as of yesterday with 572.42 driver.

When launching TW:3K, navigating through the menu, or being in the campaign map, there are no issues. However, whenever I enter any battle, a large green artifact appears at the top left of the screen but when I look at the sky there is no green artifacts or whatsoever. To test if this is related to the graphics card, I checked several other games(including Warhammer 3), but I haven't encountered this issue in any other game except for TW:3K. I suspect that this might be a problem caused by the currently used problematic Nvidia drivers or an incompetable in-game engine feature.

CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM:
After a long inspection a just found out the graphic setting "Screen Space Reflections" causes this problem. Turning it off solved my issue.

I just want to share it here to anyone that could potentially have this problem in the future. I also sent a technical issue ticket to the CA support regarding to this matter.

Hope it helps!

Thanks for this mate! I’ve just started TW:3K and I was worried my new 5090 was frying… (due to all the talk about the heat issues)

No worries mate! I'm happy if it could be any of help and welcome to the TW:3K ^^

I'm not entirely sure, but this might also be related to the HDMI/DisplayPort versions supported by the 5000 series graphics cards.

What I mean is that there seems to be a compatibility problem in this game with the HDMI or DisplayPort version supported by the monitors we use and the HDMI/DP sockets of the 5000 series video cards.

After replacing my old LG monitor with a new 2024 LG model that supports HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 2.0, all the issues I was experiencing in-game disappeared. I also noticed that even with screen space reflections enabled, the problem no longer occurred.

My suggestion would be to try running the game on a different monitor—preferably one that supports higher versions of HDMI or DisplayPort—or to test it using a different cable that supports those higher versions, if possible. Be sure to check which versions of HDMI or DP supported on your monitor, and don't spend any meaningless money for the cables for it.

This might help determine whether the issue gets resolved.
