I've got to say.. They nailed the strategic map gameplay in this one.

Normally I hate the strategic map of most total war games simply because of how boring, predictable and uninteresting it is.

But here in Three Kingdoms I actually really enjoyed the strategic map gameplay, I even enjoyed it more than the battles themselves. There is a lot of depth to this game and not just in one area but several. Characters, Economy, Food system, Reforms and Diplomacy. It's wonderful how it all just comes together.

It boggles the mind why they didn't use this system for later titles such as warhammer 3 TW and TW Pharaoh.

I have to say it again, I actually had fun on the strategic map which I almost never do. I did enjoy the strategy map of Empire TW though and Medieval 2 TW. But that's it, usually it sucks but for once they did something right.

Also, maaaan cavalry is OP in this game haha. Love it.

The strategic map in this game is good but I like some systems from other games more.
There are no roads to upgrade in regions, no unique resources in towns encouraging a variety of setups. Food system is alright but other games have had sanitation systems, faction support is basically irrelevant other games have had spreading religion or faction influence in a more meaningful way.
I love that there aren't agents and that everyone is a general though, that is really cool.
