Constant crashes during AI turns
I'm playing the Yellow Turban Rebellion and the game constantly crashes during the AI turns. It's not one particular faction, it seems to be random. At the most, I can go 1-2 turns without it crashing. This, after ~80+ hours of previous gameplay without crashing. I had recently reinstalled it hoping to continue.
Running on an Intel i9-13900K with an RX 7900 GPU

Tried driver upgrades/downgrade for GPU, game reinstalls on different drives, lowest graphics settings. Any suggestions please?

Did it start crashing only recently? was it when you play Yellow Turban? Did you try other other campagin different faction? Do you have mods?
I have the same problem. loads the CPU at 100% and after 2-3 hours of play crashes out. I7-12700 + RX4070super.

Hi! thanks for replying.
I started playing again after a while and it's been that way since - probably 2 weeks now. Never had any problems previously.
I had 2 mods which were disabled, but I had tried after uninstalling them and it was the same.
I've tried the Mandate of Heaven and Warlords campaigns with different factions. It's the same result.

Was it after windows update? cause some people reported windows update causing issues with the game. also, have you check GPU and PC softwares, make sure you are using all your pc core

Hi,
This was before the update, and stayed the same even after the update.
Have tried switching between native and GPU card for graphics and it didn't make much of a difference. Have also tried enabling the unlimited memory option in-game.
I think I've reached the end of what I can do without having to factory reset Windows, which I won't do. Aside from that, I suppose that I'm out of options :(
Thank you for all your recommendations so far!

What is PSU ? I9 chip and 7900 consumed a lot of power, I9 along consumed at least 300+ watts of power.
Try disable AI moves in game settings.
And i9 chip from what Ive heard it's E core caused some problem in games, so disabled your E core and Run only on P core.
Also, And Launch 3K TW, Alt TAb out, go Task Manager, Details, Right click 3K , Affinity, check your core. adjust your core might help, but you need to research little on this.
Lastly, Do you have another GPU, try install different GPU see what happens.

PSU is RM1000e / 1000W
I tried disabling AI move display, and also tried to zoom out of the map so that the AI character movements need not be displayed; didn't work.

I've never had any issues with any of the other games that I've been playing so far - running all on Ultra most of the time including some other RTS like CK3, AoE4 and a few graphics intensive ones like GoT:DC, BMWK, DW:Origins. None of them crashed even once through hours (sometimes 5-6) of gameplay.

Don't have an alternate GPU, but I forced native graphics for 3k instead of the GPU. Although it seemed to work for about 10 turns (as opposed to 4-5 turns on the GPU), it still eventually kept crashing the same way.

Will test core optimisation for 3K later today, haven't tried that yet. I'll post an update once I've tried. Thanks again!!

I tried setting high priority for 3K TW - didn't work.
Checked the core preference and made sure that it's only set to E cores - didn't work.
The only thing pending is disabling E cores.

Didn't work even with e cores disabled :(

Have you try install different GPU? if you have an old one.

Don't have an alternate GPU, but had set 3K to use Intel native graphics and not the card. Ended up the same way. Even if an alternate GPU works, I'll probably not be able to use that as a long term fix unfortunately.
As for the current GPU, I've already updated the driver and software after downgrading it.

I found a post that talks about I9 constantly CTD issue when playing games, it talks about the issue is MoBo BIOS settings, probably this is the cause:
