How does this game handle the timeline??
How does it handle 184 - 284??? Is it just a campaign in 195? I see some mods and stuff of Deng ai, Zhong Hui, etc, but those guys don't show up until like 215ish - 220ish.

You have several different starting points which will generally diverge wildly from historical. Starting points are 184 with the Han Dynasty still in power and the yellow turban rebellion starting, 190 with Dong Zhuo controlling the court and the coalition dissolving, 194 with Lu Bu taking over Chenliu and Sun Ce breaking off from Yuan Shu, 207(i think) with the Battle of Guan Du between Cao Cao and Yuan Shao. Then there is the 8 princes start which is during the Jing Dynasty. I don't remember the start date but after the 3 kingdoms period.

The game also tries to launch some scripts by date to get something akin to historical situation at times. If you are a faction, affected by script, more often than not you have a choice to follow the history path or go alternative one.
The game also have some scripts related to the existance of factions instead.
