Game keeps crashing to desktop
The game keeps crashing to desktop randomly, mostly after end of turn when the AI makes their turn, or during autosave, even though autosave is off.
It just freezes for a few seconds, then suddenly crash to desktop with no error message or anything.
I can't get 10 minutes in without crashing in the campaign map, I love this game but the crashes is the most annoying thing ever.

I've tried every method out there; Run as admin, verify gamefiles, turn off overclock, disable full screen optimization, reinstalled GPU driver with DDU and NVCleaninstall, change powerplan to bitsum high performance, installed the game bug fix patch, etc etc..

My rig:
i9-14900k (AIO cooled)
Asus ROG Strix RTX4070Ti OC
64GB DDR5 RAM
Game installed on M2 NVME
-My temps are low, in the 40's at most during "high load" in Total War

Please, does anyone have a fix to this?
I've seen many people having the same issue, but haven't found a solution that works for me yet.

Do you own many other games, and if so does your PC have any trouble running them? For example, if I was in this situation I would install a different Total War game to see what happens. If the other games run no problem them it suggests that Three Kingdoms doesn't like your hardware for some reason.

I just checked my DLC, and yeah it's installed, I'm not sure how to play without the DLC, but I've chosen the earliest start date, I'm playing on 2560x1440
You think that could be the issue?
I found a short term slightly annoying solution that makes my game crash less, basically it's just saving the game manually before the end of every turn.

I have a decent amount of games on my rig, I usually do a fresh install of Windows once a year, I keep it as bloatfree as I can and have no issues with any other game such as Tarkov, Squad, The Division, Hitman, Total Conflict Resistance, Wildlands, just to name a few.
I even tried running it compatibility mode but it makes my CPU ramp up all my P-cores and my temps spike so I don't think its worth it.
I'm gonna try running it in 1080p like the dude above mentioned one of the DLC's has some issues with high resolutions.

Bro.. It freakin worked!
I've set the resolution to 1080p and it no longer crash! (Weirdest bug ever btw, would probably never find out if it werent for you)
I tried disabling GPU overclock, reinstalling GPU drivers, SFC scan, reinstalling game, reinstalling frameworks, reconfiguring my CPU overclock, +++++
Weirdest bug ever, however playing in 1440p isnt essential in RTS games like this, barely noticeable when everything is set to ultra anyway, so I'll just stick to 1080 in Total War.

You're a absolute legend! :steamhappy:

I've not had this bug in the base game, so yes, it might be limited to the 8 Princes DLC, which I don't own.

If you mean Mandate of heaven at 182? Hasn't happened to me, though that dlc is the buggiest of them all.

Kinda sad you had set your resolution that low, but hey, whatever works
