Will Denuvo be Removed?
With games being cracked less than 24hrs after release or at most within a week of release will CA remove it after it's cracked? I don't understand why they'd even still use it. I've heard it causes stability issues and is a resource hog. Is that true about Denuvo?

It's a resource hog and causes massive stability issues. It's a pity that Denuvo still makes money. They basically sell malware.

I've heard this too, but I don't remember Rome 2 hogging resources or causing stability issues for me... Did Rome 2 have Denuvo?

Denuvo being a resource hog I believe was from devs doing a poor job of putting it into the game.

It did, it's just an exaggeration based on the poor implementation that occurs every once in a while. Usually most games run fine, so while there are reasons to not like Denuvo, performance generally isn't one.

The devs at Anno 1800 are openly boasting how it's sales numbers have been boosted by 30% thanks to Denuvo. Unfortunately I think it's here to stay :(

That seems unlikly... are you sure this is not Ubisoft saying that their storefront is getting more sales? It's also possible their just trying to save face in order to justify having Denuvo taking a cut from the sale for their service.

One of my reasons for believing how useless and pointless having Denuvo on a total war title is the modding scene and the regular updates. It doesn't make sense to pirate it unless you are only mildly interested in the series or setting.

I personally can't play a total war game vanilla anymore. I use many mods to increase the life-span and feel of the games. Please implement it correctly CA or not at all. <3

Because in the reality of the Game Business, even those 24 hours mater:

They can't crack an update version though so I guess they will stay ;)

If anyone's curious enough to read through my ramblings, I've written something about CA and anti-consumer practices.

Which is why it's anti-consumer. Keeping something that only annoys -sometimes hurt customers- years after the purpose has been served is the very definition of consumer-hostile. But we already had that discussion :happyotus:

Dude... You're backing up your comment with a game from almost 20 years ago. I watched that video a few weeks back and it was entertaining and anti-piracy inclusions in games like that are still done to this day but they're easily patched by those doing the cracking in the first place.

Times have changed massively from back in 2000. In an age where pre-order culture has run rampant for good or bad day one sales aren't that important in the grand scheme of things for a publisher or developer. They usually have the money months or even years before release in some cases.

Most likely a decision on SEGA's end or some of the pompous higher-ups at CA. Most of the studio seem super chill and cool whereas some of the leads... Not so much. In a series like TW especially, where bugs usually aren't ironed out for months, years or even at all I'm not sure I trust how well they can implement Denuvo when they have trouble working with their own Warscape engine.

Regardless of how many times I end up disappointed and angry at CA for colossal ♥♥♥♥ up after colossal ♥♥♥♥ up I keep coming back because the sad truth is, there is no other gaming franchise like the total war series. You have the grand 4X games from paradox but they don't have the real-time battles. In a market where you have no competition there is no drive to improve or evolve so it just stagnates. Really sad and yet I have hope for Three Kingdoms. Them pushing the release back gave me a little faith. Hopefully it will be deserved.

Okay, I need a source for a claim that wild. How do they have the money "years before release"?

Somebody has the risk of making a good month 1 release. And that person or group is the one that demands DRM. So at best you shifted the goalpost a little.
