Can you keep zhuge liand and xu shu?
Is it possible? Or is there a way to snag zhuge Liang later on?

Xu Shu will leave during an event, but he can stay if you choose to not let him leave and eat the penalty to relationship. Zhuge Liang will have an event chain later on even if Xu Shu does not leave.

Funnily enough I once let Xu Shu leave and a few turns later he showed up in the recruitment pool again. Probably cause Cao Cao booted him or he left because Cow Cow didn't have a fitting council position for him.

So yes, it is possible. As for keeping them, yeah you can offset the relationship loss. Just give him a title (the one that raises their salary too, the little button below their names on their skill tree page), a position on your council, positive relations with your leader (adopt him? marry him to someone close?), etc.

You can keep only one. If you choose to keep xu shu zhuge liang never spawns. If you let him go if cao cao faction is poof probably he also went poof because I never find him anymore. If cao cao faction is alive he works there and you can try capture him.

There is a backup event for Zhuge Liang if Xu Shu stays or doesn't spawn at all. The text says an unnamed scholar recommends Zhuge Liang over a cup of tea, rather than Xu Shu doing so as he leaves.

So what you're saying is i should spend 5-10 hours on a liu bei campaign because you know that zhuge liang will still spawn after i keep xu shu. I'm gonna need your signature and a witness because this gonna make or break my weekend xD

In that case, I have an important note: I played the event I refer to on an older patch. It is intentional by CA: it has the incident name "3k_main_historical_liu_zhuge_liang_pc_01_no_xu_shu_dilemma" in the database. So, to the best of my knowledge, the backup event is still functioning.

However, this game is kind of notorious for events breaking due to newer patches, so I wish you the best of luck. If Zhuge Liang doesn't spawn, I'm sorry: this was my best and most recent knowledge.

Well as I said, I actually experienced the event myself when I played Liu Bei two years ago which was quite a few patches back. I found the exact event identifier from the database with Tweak, one of CA's modding tools from the Assembly Kit. I enjoy making small scale and overhaul mods for personal use, so I already had it.

Even if you don't mod, it's still a cool tool to have because you can find out lots of "hidden" info about the game from the database files.

Thing is if what he says is true there should still be chance of the event happening, so not 10)% guaranteed. I guess the chance will be even lower because the chance of getting xu shu event itself is already low. Really this game major flaws for me is that historical character event chance is really low, I only ever get zhuge liang as liu bei twice. Meanwhile AI always get them. Also never in my life pang tong ever spawn when I play as liu bei, and AI also never get him. God knows what condition is required for pang tong to spawn.

it happened :)

kept xu shu, and probably within 5-10 turns I was prompted to visit zhuge liang. you go e_l_2 :D

i've played the liu bei campaign a hundred times probably and have gotten zhuge % pang tong every time.
