Family Tree Question

Is there a way to see a family tree of characters that aren't related to faction leader? I have several generals that are married and I would like to see how old their children are that I can know when they will come of age. Is the only way to do this to adopt all of my generals?

To my knowledge, there is not yet a way to see the family tree of someone who is not a ruler. Hopefully, they add this in the future.

I was playing mandate of heaven as Sun Jian and got lucky enough to find the bandit queen and Lu Bu in the recruitment pool and got them both. I then decided to marry them together and a few turns later was wondering if they had a child on the way. This was the moment I realized how limited the family tree tab was =( I tried to adopt Lu Bu an Zheng Jiang, but then I found out she was somehow a distant relative so it was impossible to find out.

As far as I know, characters that aren't in the tree of the faction leader don't actually have kids or the chances are very low. They do keep children that were born if they were once the leader of another faction if you confederate them, but these kids a basically invisible until they become adults.

Not sure how Zheng Jiang would become a distant relative of the Sun family though, but if you were able to adopt either of them that probably would enable them to have kids.
