Ive a got a red X when I pair generals, but the game wont say why

I had to manually trawl through the traits until I found they had different opinions on Zeal.

Why wouldn't this information be readily availiable?

I could be wrong but I believe this means one of the generals or both do not like each other. If you hover your mouse pointer over the red x it should show you whats up and who does not like who.

It says who, but not why.
For the why you have to hunt through thier traits.

If they become Acquantinces, Friends, or Rivals, you can find the why in the charachter finder, but not without navigating through several screens.

I'm no expert by all means but when you hover over one of the traits where it tells you what the trait is (higher ambition for power etc.), down the bottom of that box it says which traits he/she likes and doesn't like, maybe that's got something to do with it.

Knowing they have contradictory traits is what matters. You can see it before you pair them. The specific trait is neither here nor there. Did you hover over the red x?
