What does A World Betrayed add to base game?
I'm confused between the new patch and this DLC, what am I getting from buying this DLC beside having Lu Bu and Sun Ce "special period faction"?
Am I gonna get new content such as new event for other factions e.g Cao Cao or those contents are being added through free patch?

To CA’s credit any changes to the overall gameplay or faction changes like Liu Biao’s governance mechanic are included in patches, everything in patch 1.50 will be free on the 19th of March alongside A World Betrayed.

In other words the DLC itself doesn’t really add anything to the base campaign what the DLC adds if you want to get is a new starting year for Liu Bei, Cao Cao, Kong Rong, Gongsun Zan, Yuan Shao, Yuan Shu, Zhang Yan, Ma Teng, Zheng Jiang and Liu Biao, plus a playable Sun Ce and Lu Bu faction if you download Yan Baihu he will also be playable in 194 if you buy A World Betrayed but if you download Yan Baihu he will only be in the 190 starting date if you don’t buy A World Betrayed.

The ability to propose the Mercenary treaties are also DLC (see video attached to patch notes @ 3:18).
But I couldn't understand him if he said that it was the case to a specific faction or it applies to all bandit factions.

Bandits have been overhauled, they now act like bandits, even have their own units, stances, and tech. The ability to be a mercenary get paid for it etc.

He said that Lu Bu faction can use mercenary contracts just like bandits, but you need to buy DLC to play as Lu Bu faction. All bandit factions are already free in base game Zheng Jiang and Zhang Yan are in vanilla and Yan Baihu is coming as a free content.

If you ask for free content its pretty much whole bandit factions rework but also 17 new unique characters, big unit rebalance, some population boosts (now it boosts all income and food production not only peasantry). They also add few factions in the south so game should be way more interesting.

So, for example if I play as Cao Cao, new events from the DLC (conflict between Lu Bu and other factions) will play out for Cao Cao without paying for DLC too? By buying the DLC I simply get to play the special faction of Lu Bu and Sun Ce during the DLC's period right?
I asked because I bought Mandate of Heaven for its campaign at earlier date, this one start during mid campaign which is confusing for me how it will play out for other factions with and without DLC.

Given how events did not transition well in the 182 starting when the game hit 190 with Mandate of Heaven, I have a feeling that the 194 events won’t transition well in 190 when it reaches 194 the starting date of A World Betrayed.

The DLC itself seems to only add a new start date with slightly different starting positions for most factions, or at least more territory that they had in the 190 start. There might also be a few new unique units which can only be used by Sun Ce and Lu Bu in addition to what their original factions already get. Its also unclear if these will be added back to their main campaign factions or can only be used from the 194 start.

While for the FLC contented released along side it, it looks like all of the unique characters that are being added can be found in the main campaign, which is kinda hard for them not to do since most of them are already in the game as generics anyway. Plus there is also the new bandit faction alongside a rework of how the existing bandit factions also work in general.

Those dual wielded sword units are added. Frankly you could just read about all the stuff on the CA blogs. Thats what they're there for.

They placed a whole lot of new factions in the south, possibly also in Nanhai. Zhou Tai and Cheng Pu and all the others are unique now.

But why appreciate content when we can complain...

And no Zhao Tai doesnt have a Katana.
