removing character ages?
Who on earth thought this was a good idea? There are extremely simple mods you can install that just decrease the likelihood that they die? Why would they think it's smart to get rid of character ages and instead replace it with turns survived?

what what did they remove ages????
if you scroll down just a bit you can see it's only an option

No it's not an option, they just removed ages entirely. Only the not dying is an option. Ages are just gone and that's why we complain

Don't jump on the conclusion.
Maybe it's a misunderstanding on your side.

From what I read, it's more like :
there's an option where you can decide if either or not your characters can die (from natural cause).
If you do decide to remove "natural death", THEN the ages of your characters are replaced by turn alive.

For me, it's more like IF you active the option, THEN you don't have "ages" anymore.

As I won't activate this (dumb) option, I'll still have my characters "ages", and everything's going to be alright :)

Edit :

See the "Age/dates now replace with showing turns alive or turns progressed" is located INSIDE the "You can now choose whether characters live forever or not" block, and not on the same level.
As a result, i think checking this option and showing or not ages is directly related.

Could be wrong, but this is what makes more sense to me.

The turn alive counter is part of the toggle. if you turn on the toggle, character cannot die of old age and the age is replaced by turn alive counter. You can know it's part of the toggle because it's a sub point of the ageless mode. If age is indeed replaced with turn alive counter, they would've put it in separate point.

CAMPAIGN
You can now choose whether characters live forever or not
This is an option in the campaign selection screen
- Age/dates now replace with showing turns alive or turns progressed
- Characters can still die in battle with this option enabled
- Children will still show ages until they come of age, and will then show turns alive

Its clearly only for when you toggle this option.

why are people upset about optional things that you can enable or disable?

Literally made so people could play their cao cao, liu bei and sun jians to the end which obviously never happened historically but in KOEI games it sure seems like it lol. Also it is seems very clear that ages only disappear when you toggle the option on so why do you care? If you want the no death and ages still use the mods you seem to love so dearly.

I abandoned my Tao Qian campaign when he died after what felt like 20 turns lol.

Not sure, but from a Serious Trivia's video, he said something like that deaths by events are not disabled with the timeless mode.
the game is already silly seeing a 88 year old fight like in his 30 and looking the part as well, good thing its optional

Yeah I saw it from Serious Trivia too. its a toggle option at the campaign select screen, underneath the difficulty sliders and such.

It is NOT a fixed thing. You have a choice whether or not to use it.

Dont know if I will use it. It would be nice to see some old school hero from the beginning meet up with one of the Eight Princes later on in the game in a duel. I dont know how it works yet but the family tree is going to look weird if no one dies.

Hey look more people complaining about choices :) very cool

It's an option you can tick...... If you think it's terrible...then don't tick it?

Is it just for hero units or all generals? Too easy when you have a stacked general that doesnt die from getting old? How are the family trees looking since generals dont die due to age? I might check this out next time I start a new campaign as someone else. It would be cool if it was only my hero units not all generals.
What do you mean hero unit? There's only general in 3k. Plus everyone already said it and the patch is out so it's like beating dead horse but it's a toggle, on=all general age replaced with turn alive off=normal age system
