How does the timelines work?
If you start the "Mandate of Heaven" campaign and then play until the time of "warlords rise" (190), do the factions and missions from that timeline occur?

Or in other words: Are the dlcs connected with the main game in any way?

Thanks in advance

Yep, they connect.

They should in theory... One of the main issues a lot of people have with MOH is that a lot of the events that are supposed to help transition the game in to resembling the Rise of the Warlords start rarely seem to trigger properly. While a lot of things will simply never play out the way they would need to to lead to that situation.

While to my knowledge I don't think AWB adds any events to the main campaign to help transition the world in to its set up.

MoH only connects to 190 but that's it. For AWB, it does nothing i.e. if you start at 190, Lu Bu will never move out and become his own faction when it reaches 194. Same with Sun Jian. His wife instead still remains the faction leader until she dies.

I see, and how are MOH, AWB etc. affecting the multiplayer campaign?

I've not played multiplayer campaigns myself but I would assume they are functionally the same as they are in single player.
mods could potentially make this happen since some mods such as NGC already had the Lu Bu killing Dong Zhuo and taking over as the faction ruler prior to the relase of AWB. But I guess it would be a lot more complicated since Lu Bu now has his unique faction mechanism.
