Kong Rong was a distant descendant to Confucius and regarded as one of the greatest scholars of the Three Kingdoms era.

So far there has been no mention of He Jin, its possible that he will be included in one of the early historical battles against the yellow turbans. But main game starts after his death so he definitely won't be included in that.

Kong Rong was one of the regional governors in the north east. His faction wasn't included directly in any major battles though, he just got himself executed by Cao Cao who then annexed his territory.

The man dies to the eunuchs before luoyang burns down. The game starts well after that event.

game starts in 190 or 191 just after the razing of Luo Yang. He Jin, Zhang Jiao, Zhang Bao and Zhang Liang are all dead. Kong Rong is in RTK he is in the central plains east of Tao Qian normally eaten up by Cao Cao after the Lu Bu execution event.

Kong Rong was an administrator, governor, and court official during the latter days of the Han Dynasty. He claimed descent from Confucius, also known as Great Master Kong or Kong Zi. Kong Rong held a number of important positions throughout his career, and he was lauded by many people for being a talented scholar, and he is remembered mostly for two key elements of his life:

The first is that Kong Rong was a very intelligent man and skilled at civil management. Despite difficulties against Yellow Turbans militarily, the regions Kong Rong oversaw flourished extensively. He was a staunch Confucionist, and as a result, made great strives towards pushing scholarship amongst the citizenry and ensuring that the Confucian social hierarchy functioned seemlessly and as intended. In laymens terms, he made sure the public was content and not unruly while also ensuring the regions he owned were in good condition economically, socially, and structurally. Where Kong Rong was not so great was in his ability as a war leader. If it was not for substantial help from Liu Bei, he would've lost large amounts of his territory to Yellow Turban Rebels. Kong Rong eventually lost his territory to Yuan Shao's son Yuan Tan, and Kong fled safely to Xu Chang and took refuge under Cao Cao. He remained there ever since.

The second is less positive and has to do with Kong Rong's death. Kong Rong was a very strong critic of Cao Cao, who by the year 208 had amounted a great deal of political power. Many officials felt as though Cao Cao was abusing his role as chancelor and protector of the emperor, but only a few did speak up. Kong Rong was one of them who did. Cao Cao had been bothered by Kong Rong for a while, who had been very critical about his campaign against Yuan Shao. When Kong Rong made a snide remark to an emissary of Sun Quan, it was the final straw for Cao Cao. He used his influence to brand Kong a traitor, essentially put him in a kangaroo court, and had him executed. In Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Kong's entire family is killed alongside with him, but I cannot remember off hand if that occurred in history, as Cao Cao could at times be quite lenient to the families of his enemies (Chen Gong is a good example of this, though off topic). In Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Kong Rong's body is then left in the street to rot as a warning to those who oppose Cao Cao's authority, and no officials dared to approach it or be seen as a sympathizer, save for one of Kong Rong's oldest friends who mourned him greatly. Shortly after this, Cao Cao began his campaign south and eventually suffered his disastrous campaign at Chi Bi.

So there ya have it, Kong Rong in a nutshell.

As for Kong Rong in other games, he rarely appears because he wasn't that major of a military commander and wasn't part of many major battles. In some Dynasty Warriors games, he appears at Si Shui and Hu Lao Pass, since he was a member of the Coalition in the novel. I believe he is a leader in some of the DW Empires games too.

The family of Kong Rong did indeed die historically (not an unusual practise) but as you note, the body outside was novel.

I like the novel Kong Rong, not a fan of the historical one.

Of Gone Wrong "He was a staunch Confucionist" a blind one at that.
