Kong Rong with his trade agreements.

Liu Bei may not be the quickest but he is damn good at it too with his building and admins and the many friends.

Gotta mention the yellow turban Gong Du. When you head south you can build up massively.

Gongsun Zan is good aswell, tend to be able to keep my economy good while stacking elite units throughout the game.

I'd agree with Kong Rong. Trade is plentiful early to mid game and you can just focus on building tall. For overall income...man I love Zheng Jiang. Easily make over 200k per turn with her.

Ma Teng is good as well. he starts with a silk producing province and has access to several others around him along with a faction bonus of 100% income from silk trade, if you combine that with some of the silk reforms to increase that bonus as well as the horse pastures around to drive down cavalry cost, when i play as ma teng i easily pull 10k per turn after a few years into the game, but no doubt the start for ma teng is really rough i recomend giving han sui gong du as a target and as soon as he breaks the alliance because he's too weak to take on gong du just attack him and take his lands then kill yellow turbs around you

200k sounds broken if you're making that much per turn you can just buy any diplomatic interaction plus support an infinite army

why does zheng jiang make so much?

Zheng Jiang's tribute mechanic. It is extremely lucrative and allows you to build taller than even Kong Rong. You can just focus on your first commandery and a few farms (for tribute buildings).

Basically, you get a massive percentage of a factions income. All of it is corruption free (which is why its very lucrative). What is even crazier is that you can make that tribute income increase by constructing buildings that can increase it up to 30% per building. Then the more powerful you become in rank, you get more. Being empress gives you even more than that...so it just compounds until you are really making more than what is actually physically floating in the game.

My current game with her, I have almost 20 armies (with 50% replen), make 200K a turn, have almost 3million in the bank. You just roam and smash empires into submission. Very fun once you get it rolling.
