But that run was ended in the Winter of 189 when the Yellow Turbans captured Luoyang.
No mods, low difficulty setting. The Yellow Turbans just win sometimes. And it's a much easier run for them when the player is playing as Sun Jian or Cao Cao (after confederating Cao Song) because the player is not involved.
Among monkeys, Lu Bui
MOH Sun Jian is probably the most relax faction to play with, but you do need to get involved very early.
Try this (for romance mode)
-- let Han Dang lead the army/ handle all the duel for the starting 3 looter armies, so he can level up asap to get reach.
--Set up trade with either Cao Song or Liu Hong, put cheng pu do construction duty, lady wu at tax collection duty at the capital. Rush you capital to level 4 according to your finance, so you can get the +1 admin reform. And put Zhu Zhi as admin.(to get a second army slot)
-- put together a stack with Sun Jian/Han Dang/ +1(best with strategist) and muster at the your boarder and boarder of Han owned weapon smith. Once the MOH notification start, force match up north.
-- Now you have 2 choice, go northwest and hit He YI, or northeast and get that YT own farmland just north of the river(better choice). Once you have that farmland, this is your pit stop, and later you will trade it away to Han for that weapon smith land(better weapon for you generals)
-- At the same time, spawn Huang Gai as second army and run him down south to colonized the salt mine and the town with port, this open up more trade routes for you.
-- Run Sun Jian main stack up north and start fighting the 3 brother. Once you have a piece of land up north, trade away the farmland that you just got from YT for the weapon crafter next to your base. Wait for Huang Gai finish his colonization route and spawn him/Cheng Pu to act as reinforcement for your main stack at the north.
-- At this point, you have 2 of the best duelist with you(Cheng Pu and Sun Jian), a stack of mercenary axeman(heavy counter the 3 Zhang spearman), you should be set.
-- Trade away any land you get from the 3 Zhang, always keep one as your temp base, use those money to build your southern empire. AI always put a stack at the land that their newly acquired, this basically become you guard dog, and the zhang brothers will have a hard time taking those land back.
I think my fastest record for Sun Jian to end the rebellion in L/L difficulty is 50 ish turns
As always you can also take Luoyang (after Dong Zhuo takes it), and then it doesn't matter how many counties they have.
