Has anyone had any success acquiring Zhao Yun in the 182 start?

I've noticed that he just sort of appears in Qiao Mao's family tree as a possibly adopted son at the age of 14. He's not there on Turn 1... But everyone's family trees start to fill out starting on Turn 2.

This is actually a source of interest and amusement to me. I love seeing who ends up marrying whom and who starts adopting random characters.
In one of my games, none of the legendary characters came to me. I instead found Xun Yu and Guo Jia both adopted into random families.
Liu Bei married to Lady Cai. Liu Chong married to Lady Liu. Liu Biao married to Lu Zheng. All mix and matched.
There was one family who'd adopted two of the Eunuchs.


The first time I played MOH, I didn't realize this and by the time I noticed, it was far too late to get Zhao Yun.

When I played as Liu Hong... I simply forgot.

I went back and did one or two 'test runs' to see if I could snag him with an adopted daughter right as he comes of age... But he's always suddenly shifted to another faction on that very turn. Like he is some rebellious teenager who just can't wait to leave his parents home.

Often, he runs straight to Liu Bei, but I've seen him join the courts of random nobodies as well.

Has anyone managed to pick him up in a marriage? Or are you just meant to hope to be lucky and have your court be the one that he picks at random?

I've seen lots of streams and videos of people playing the MOH start and are absolutely swimming in legendary characters... They just never seem to come my way.

In my current game as Cao Cao I was able to find him in the recruitment pool around the mid-point of the campaign. Earlier I do remember seeing him in on of Liu Hong's armies but I guess he left around the time Dong Zhuo confederated it.

I think Liu Chong was married to a generated character before his assassination although somehow his unique crossbow found its way in to the hands of one of the minor faction leaders in the south, which I claimed when destroying them. While Liu Bei ended up marrying Lu Zheng and Zheng Jiang found her way in to my faction and is now married to Cao Ren.

I got him with Dong Zhuo campaign it was pretty random since he just appeared in the pool for no reason

Gongsun Zan serves under Liu Yu as a general I assume because Liu Yu gets eliminated this adds Gongsun Zan to the recruitment pool if not killed (or executed) also assuming that noteworthy characters are linked to their starting faction Zhao Yun will have no faction to come of age in and will just be added to the pool, unless the event where he joins Liu Bei can happen in the MOH.

I’ve noticed some oddities with other characters twice once as Liu Chong and the other with Tao Qian have I had Yuan Shu’s daughter join my court and the only reason I can think of is Yuan Shu had an army in my lands but was still a faction leader, and I have also had other characters randomly have birth announcements or come of age without having a parent.
