It's literally based on Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Hence Total War THREE KINGDOMS
The game is based mostly on Romance of the Three Kingdoms, which is itself based on real history+a whole lot of myth and legend, and a fair bit of artistic flair to flesh out the narrative of the novel. There are two modes, Romance, which is based on the novel, and Records, which is honestly not historical, but less fictitious than Records (though it still has a fair deal of fiction, like Zheng Jiang).
Also wow. That video. In the first ~5 minutes he has gotten multiple things wrong. What he called "east Turkestan" has been connected to the Chinese (and controlled by them of and on) since the at LEAST the early Han. He is talking about antiquity, and then goes back to the Neolithic. The hell does that have to do with Classical China? Absolutely nothing. He calls the Shang the "first historical dynasty". We know the Shang as a culture existed, but the dynasty is not itself historical. That is still pre-history. This guy doesn't know wtf he is talking about. He talks about the Qin having "nothing in the far west of China". Yes they did; they had hegemony. This guy acts like hegemony isn't a thing, soft power isn't a thing. He calls the Han "uninterrupted". Yeah, Wang Mang was a pretty big interruption, he founded a dynasty that forced the Han to relocate and separated the Eastern from Western Han. Don't listen to this dude.
One can easily make the argument that nothing of what is considered "History" is accurate because people who wrote ♥♥♥♥ down had biases. Take the war with Persia and Greece for example. Greek historians depict it as an apocalyptic battle between good and evil. It's barely a footnote in Persian records that no one really cared about.
Everyone should have an exe to grind against the CCP because they are systematically destroying China, it's culture and heritage.
I love the "you don't speak ___ language, how can you know anything about them?!". So, almost nobody can know anything about the Sumerians, because the language is almost completely extinct? Nobody can know anything about the Harrapans, because the language is completely dead? The 20 years of Roman history I have learned I can only slightly know, because I only know a bit of Latin? That is stupid.
You did almost the same exact thing in the post I quoted. You stated what you believe to be a fact and you provided absolutely no source.
All I have to do is google "Is China Capitalist?" to prove your wrong. Literally every single article, study, etc. says essentially what I said, just in more words.
Sorry. Bye bye.
And it's Romance, It means they alter the history but keep the fundamental.
I would not allow my students to use wikipedia either.
