In Ro3K 11 I had Liu Pi (a former yellow turban bandit) owning Lu Bu in the forests with his Critical Ambush skill as Kong Zhou. Good times.
Gan Ning's always been a favourite of mine. Gotta love a pirate turned hero. :p
(Also a rival to Zhuge Liang I hear)
I also like lu bu because he was so talented yet had such an obvious flaw, like he’s a tragedy. He’s the one who could’ve benefited the most from sun tzu’s writings. Instead he was good at tactics but not strategy and fell for the thot trap.
Lu Bu of course is just everyone's favourite beatstick. lol
But I've always appreciated lesser famed characters like Gan Ning or Zhang He. Even with Zhang He's portrayal in the Dynasty Warriors games as KOEI decided to take insane levels of creative liberty based on the fact that Zhang He was skilled as a poet and practiced the arts. :p
Kinda how I view the figure even historically. Seemed he was by far the wisest of the dynasty leaders even when portrayed as a villain in the novel of sorts. Cao Cao can lose an entire navy and be back for your land "in the name of the Emperor" next year just cuz.
Edit: Although Lu Bu is a fun Dynasty Warriors character - I actually can't say I like him in any way shape or form as he is portrayed. A massive, egotistical brute that was his own undoing. Ready to stab anyone in the back, would make Brutus blush. Met a fitting end and Guan Yu is way cooler.
I was more thinking the historical Lu Bu. With the DW Lu Bu, I'm fine with him but the only reason he tends to stand out for me is when they do a decent romance with Diao Chan
One of the silent heroes of the tale in a lot of ways. I can't recall how he was supposed to have died but Sun Ce seemed to admire him. Good choice is what I'm getting at, didn't expect it.
If I had to go with more of the general type - I'd probably go with Zhao Yun simply because it seems like he fought and lived through it all. Imagine finally finding that "benevolent" leader you wanted to fight for then later in life realize his off-spring was useless and Zhuge couldn't live forever or push further north due to Sima Yi.
