Is it better to "Secure & Occupy" or just "Occupy" captured towns and cities?

Hello all.
Is it better to "Secure & Occupy" or just "Occupy" captured towns and cities?
I have just started a campaign as Yuan Shao, and have both these options.
I notice I take a Lineage hit to secure and occupy, but it has more benefits.
Is it worth a hit to lineage?
Also, what other effects come in to play? I only had the occupy option on my previous game with a different warlord.

Secure and occupy makes the populace happier and replenishes all your forces in that area including the garrison. I like to use it for replenishment mostly when I take a lot of casualties and I don't want to sit around for a year or more.

Many thanks. I was a little bit worried that the loss of lineage could not easily be replaced.
