Battle difficulty levels
Does anyone know what the impact is of the Battle Difficulty level?
Does it just give the AI a bunch of stat buffs again?

normal no buff anyone. Best enjoy no cheat game Campaign Dif:Normal ,Bettle Dif: Normal. You pick starter dif. hard ,very hard hero.

I read somewhere that enemy units are slightly tweaked on higher battle difficulties.

Yes, basically the enemy forces are stronger and have higher moral, etc. They should be just as smart/dumb as on normal.

i was scared to jump from hard to legendary, felt almost no diffrences On the battle field.

From my testing in custom battles with generals dueling eachother far away from units(not affecting them), when equal units clash, the ai unit gets nearly twice the kills and is about 150% to 200% more efficicient and tanky than your equal counterpart. Meaning your frontline melts fast unless you pich better troops against the trash ones and make sure to spam that cav behind them.

There are quite a few AI changes, namely archers will aim unshielded units and not generals etc.
Cavalry will actually charge your rear units and not that spearwall and get pwned.

Not a fan of inflated unit stats and I also don't like feeling i'm versing the mentally challenged either.

But thats a mod.

That's what the mod is for, to get the advanced AI of legendary etc without the stat buffs.

So basically, there is a difference in the Battle AI of normal and legendary.(else they wouldn't make such a mod).

This covers the same question on the Total War Forums. A few answers here.

- Summarized.
• Very simply put, campaign difficulty adds bonuses to income for AI factions, and battle difficulty adds bonuses to unit stats.
• For Campaign from easy to legendary + 10 to -10 Satisfaction for every character. For Combat it might just be moral.
• Stats so huge buffed on legendary, increase stats just hidden, to prevent player facepalm.
• There are some AI improvements in higher difficulties, for example enemy archers won't waste arrows firing at you generals in romance mode. Also Calvary will go for the flank as opposed to going head long into a front spear line.
