Swapping units
How do I swap units between my 3 generals in the same army? I know some like crossbows are specific to the general's class but I can't even swap militia units. Am I missing something?

Units are attached to the General, you can't swap them.

Gameplay wise, thats' ridiculous. Sometimes, you need to muster an army quickly and can't afford to get another general immediately. When you can finally afford him and want to transfer units from another general in the same army to optimize their strengths, you can't! I can accept that some units are specific to the general's class, but militia?!

Not gonna lie,"this armys within army" feeling is crap as hell. like a damn moba. Kinda killed this game.

Moba? That's a very big stretch. I think it's been pretty fun so far - as has the majority based on the reviews and feedback. But your opinion is yours - play another TW game!

Way ahead of you mate, between the hard blur filter that looks like ♥♥♥♥ and this "innovation" to armys, im just waiting on papa steam to give me my cash back, and back to warhammer 2 i go.

Hope you all enjoy it though.

I think players are still excited over the fresh mechanics vs older titles to give a positive review. That does not mean mechanics like unit swapping should not be fixed and has nothing to do with taste.

The system is fine as it is

On paper i hated it, however in practise I really enjoy it. There's something about having to plan carefully. I love all the extra layers. Warhammer series in TW will always be my baby but I am so happy about the changes and innovations made in 3K.

I actually prefer this loyal system of swapping and replacing units. Generals arnt hired with the "wrong" units so there's never a situation where 4 archers follow a Sentinel, no matter how dire, unless you forced yourself into that corner in the first place by ignoring roles.

I'd like to see unit swapping between generals back, along with merging. Though that would open up an easy way of replenishing troops.

The system is OK when you get used to it, but I would like a bit more flexibility.

You guys aren't reading what I said. How is not being able to optimize your generals fine? And no, there will always be situations when generals are not optimized for the militia units they command because while all can recruit militia units, you only have enough money at the start to recruit using your existing generals and cannot immediately optimize. Which is fine in itself but not when unit swapping for militia isn't fixed.

Your leader might start with a few unoptimal units sure, but they can quickly and easily be swapped or replaced, hired generals on the other hand... not the case. Plan your armies don't just fill out the slots.

No you can't swap any units between generals in the same army, period. I can understand the limitation for class-specific units, but not for militia. The issue isn't about planning armies but the fact that you need to mobilize them immediately regardless whether they are optimized or not for the general leading them. Imagine you're at war and need to quickly recruit units for defense. Oh wait, they're not optimized for my general, so I'll wait till I have the right general or research the right tech before recruiting. Meanwhile, the enemy is free to take whatever he pleases in my territory. Do you see how absurd this is?

If you need units quick then you'll have to put up with unoptimized generals, that's part of the game. You can optimize later when you have breathing room or the right tech.

Please, enough of "it's part of the game" without addressing the issue. By that same logic, all bugs and absurd mechanics are part of the game and so no improvements are needed duh. The point isn't whether you can optimize later or not. Of course you could disband and recruit from scratch later to optimize. What I'm saying is why remove the unit swapping feature from R2 and Attila, which actually worked properly? It's absurd to have to recruit from scratch just because unit swapping isn't fixed.
