Recruite Zhao Yun as Liu Bei

I want to know exactly how the event where he joins you is triggert cause I played 4 different playthroughs now (with turn 50-100) and it never ever triggert.
I know there is a event, I saw it in a LP but the guy just won a battle against yuan shao and thats it....(I did the same, even killed yuan shaos faction but that was not enough).

The guy in the Legendary Liu Bei campaign was really surprised. It seemed to have triggered when he hit unity 2, but eh, in my campaign, Tao Qian didn't even cede his lands to me after he died despite me supporting him.

I'm extremely worried that in the version of the game we're playing, various events are broken :|

Hm I played till unity 3 so thats not it I guess (or as you said it should be like that but don't happen all the time).

After reaching second marquis or some skill that gives 1 additional army split Liu Bei from the army and win some battles using Liu Bei alone and his retinue this will increase the chances the event will pop

As you can see above I played 4 different campaigns so far from turn 50-100 so you can guess I did a lot of battles with or without liu bei and the event never happened in any of this campaigns.

I got Zhao Yun's Event after I killed Yuan Shao and conquered Yi but I dont think thats a requirements since I also had Treatise with Gongsun

I believe the requirement is that you must marry before 207.. And before tao dies as tao offered me a wife by the name of pei?... Sent class...

I had event where liu had a child called liu shan.. By lady gan.. Before 207 which then gave me the option of recruiting zhao yun.. On my first playthrough.

Zhao yun saves liu shan and becomes and official member of liu army at this point. Because of his deed I believe this is the event thay allows zhao yun to be added. You need to have your first son.

Lady gan dies at the battle of chang ban. Although this is just a guess but.. I had it happen once I managed to have a son. In game..

In my first play I did not know anything about the events, but I got Zhao Yun very early because I took all of Huang Shao's cities nearby very early with the original army consisting the 3 brothers. Then Zhao Yun joined me automatically very shortly after that.
I did not marry, did not declare new wars.

I still don't know what is the trigger, but that's how he joined me.

The requirement for Zhao Yun is the event starts at turn 8 and ends turn 28. You only have to complete a battle. After turn 28 you cannot get him via the event. That is it. You dont have to win or lose, you just have to finish a battle. However, I think they either A. screwed up how events are managed or B. Events are prioritizes in 3 classifications and Zhao Yun's event is at the bottom so higher events are triggering before then. The chance of his event however is based on a % and things get iffy from my lack of knowledge. What is true though is turn 8 starts, ends 28, and you only have to complete a battle. Doesnt matter who. Going through the code I made Zhao yun's event on a higher priority, didnt change his chances of firing, just put him on a higher list to fire the event better and it fired consistently every play through.

Here is my post on the subject, with the code and tables of the event. I have spent hours and hours and havent even made it to turn 100 solely trying to figure out how to fire his event.

I'm just happy with how awesome zhao yun is in this game. He was my favorite character in the book.

In my second gameplay as Liu Bei again, Zhao Yun never joined me even I completed battles early. But I noticed one thing that I did differently, that is I did not wipe out Huang Shao.

I started a new Lui Bei campaign with the beta patch 1.1.x, with that turn 8-28 in mind, I did finish a few battles against Huang Shao between turn 8 - 28 and even took a few cities from him also in the progress.

But now I am far in the year 202 and Zhao Yun never showed up. I already gave up on him. I will do fine with the 3 brothers. Waiting to marry Sun Ren in 208. I will make Zhao Yun feel sorry for not joining my faction. I will have Zhuge Liang slap Zhao Yun's face.

I am sure Zhao Yun will blame CA as his way out.

It's based on random chance. There's a mod on reddit that you can apply to make these events happen 100% of the time.
