Gongsun Zan starts with him and, if you are not playing as Gongsun Zan, there is an event apparently where he can move to Liu Bei's faction. I do not know what the conditions are for this event.

Rank from easiest to hardest
1. Play Gongsun Zan

If you dont want to play Gongsun Zan then

2. Get a single female general, get friendly with Gongsun Zan, then use her to marry Zhao Yun to your faction. You need a hefty amount of money to do that

3. Get friendly with Gongsun Zan (again), then try your best to annex him.

4. Fight Gongsun Zan and capture Zhao Yun. There are 2 things you need to prepare to get him:
- at least 1 character in your army that has skill to increase capture chance (you can get by leveling up).
- A spy in Gongsun Zan territory, use the spy to deteriorate the relationship between Gongsun Zan and Zhao Yun. If they still like each other he won’t join you ever.

5. Employ a friend of Zhao Yun, wait desperately for GSZ faction to be destroyed, then pray and hope that Zhao Yun appears in your court as free agent.

About 2, how can I manage the marriage between one of my female general and Zhao Yun??? I cannot find any option like that in the game.

Longces, it can be done, there should be two hearts at the bottom of their image to be possible. I think it may require to be a family member so you would have to adopt a female general to your family (must be under a certain age to marry).

Also, if you are going through the trouble of stealing a general. I would recommend doing it to Lu Bu because he is a beast!!!!

My theory is the Player event when you play as Gongsun Zan, you have the option to help Zhao Yun or not.
This same event could trigger for the AI and what they AI choose probably is what proc if he is given to you or not as Liu Bei

No he doesnt. You have to have treatise with Gongsun Zan for the event to come up.

That is a mod, if op wants to go that route, in terms of the event it seems it is dependent on Gongsun Zan and that is 100% random, ive seen people get the event year 195 earliest and idk how.

well, either by.

1- employing after capturing him(he never say no to Liu Bei)
2- annexing the faction he is in.
3- marrying him in your family
4- randomly finding him in your pool (after his faction falls and he didnt die)
5- play with spy(didnt try this, not sure how it works)

Thanks for your reply, I have got Lu Bu and... he betrayed me. Even I gave him the highest rank in court and gave him a province with 2 other support generals who are green with him. He betrayed me to join Cao Cao because his satisfaction keeps going down no matter what I tried to stop it... And it's the year 204 in my game now, Gongsun is still alive and I still cannot get Zhao Yun even Zhao Yun's satisfaction with Gongsun is below 40 now. T___T

I have another option, that I can Unify with Gongsun's faction and I can get both Gongsun and Zhao Yun in my army, but the result is that it makes Zhao Yun grudge against me because of making his master's faction disappear and it says that "only death can end this feud"... I don't get why they make this system while Gongsun is +20 green when I ask for unify factions...
