How does co-op work?
Do both players control a faction each? What if a player goes into battle on a turn and the other player doesn't. Will he have to wait. Does he get to watch the battle?

Players control their own factions, but must diplomatically agree to share the mandate of heaven in order to do coop (no longer locked at the start). Yes, the other player must wait, they can't perform their turns simultaneously. They can watch the battle the other player is doing or may choose to face the other player in battle (playing with the com's army).

Are you primarily basing this off of the most recent Total War titles or did they share some information about multiplayer?

I do remember – if I am even remembering correctly – CA mentioning that the multiplayer campaign is going to be more of a sandbox compared to Warhammer... but what does that mean? Are the ultimate game-winning objectives similar to those found in the singleplayer campaign, where the ultimate goal is to become Emperor? Does it also mean that there won't be two separate modes: one for head-to-head play and one for cooperative play? I certainly hope that ends up being the case.

Beyond what CA mentioned about the multiplayer campaign being more sandbox-like concerning objectives in a little Q&A session with Indypride (I believe) and a few others, I can't think of any other time they shared multiplayer campaign information with us. Please do correct me if I am wrong.

This is based off of info they've released about multiplayer campaigns and their livestreams: Objectives are similar to Single player, there are no longer separate modes. So it's more sandboxy and you can do stuff like spycraft against each other, but there is the option to share the mandate of heaven which essentially locks things into a coop campaign if you so wish.

That's the case, it's just one mode and you can choose to work together or not, or simply pretend to work together and then stab each other in the back.

Excellent. I'll take your word for it. Thank you for clearing that up for me.
