Plus in the 3K period of China women were not at all considered able to fight in wars and take up arms. There was a pretty rigid and strict social structure that left men to do the fighting. There are a few exceptions of notable women in warfare, but it really wouldn't make sense to have woman running around fighting all the time.
So if anything, having a bunch of women fighting should be what takes you out of it if youre talking about historical immersion.
I'd still rate the game the best historical title (i havent played the warhammer ones) since Shogun 2, just something i noticed that I thought was odd
and not talking about women units, just the people you sometimes see walking around farms or cities and who run away when your units get close
