Can't recruit Ma Chao -_-

So I'm playing as Sun Jian and got Ma Teng really early, like turn 3 or 4. I checked the family tree to see if I needed to marry Ma Teng to get Ma Chao or not, but he's already 19 and in the Han Empire. So I went after Han Empire, destroyed them, then he moved to Dong Zhuo. Han was his vassal so it made sense. Then I destroyed Dong Zhuo but then Ma Chao moved to Yuan Shao, I'm like wtf your dad is right here come here dog.

I even beat him in battle with Ma Teng but he just moved to other faction, no option to employ him even with Ma Teng. I've been chasing him around the map now I'm nearly as the end and he wouldn't join me no matter what.

Really CA? At least you should have an option to let family member call each other to other faction if their own faction is destroyed. I hope some modder will be able to so something -_-

How'd you manage to get Ma Teng? In my games he's always refused to join anyone after being captured.

lol no idea his faction must be destroyed so he just showed up in my recruitment pool, it explains why his son is in the Han Empire and isn't in Ma Teng's faction.

When a faction gets destroyed you can recruit the generals from that faction if they survived, its how i got the bandit queen and Lu Bu, Cao Cao etc in my faction ( i"m playing as Sun Jian )

Yeah that's what I thought, I got Xiahou Don, Dien Wei, Yue Jin, Ma Teng, Guan Yu, Zhang Fei but can't recruit Ma Chao no matter what he just kept jumping faction.
