The game is a confusing mess
i have played 17 hours plus and the game is a mess. The icons on the map are all virtually the same, so you cannot tell which is your forces, your allies or the enemy. Graphically it is a major step down from warhammer. The plus side to this down grade is the load times are much faster. I just find it confusing on the map which is which, the map is cluttered and makes not sense.

My conclusion is the game is major step down from warhammer,

Warhammer is its own thing. It's not really a fair comparison. I have zero problems understanding the UI. Stick with the elves and goblins, seems to be more your style.

I agree that they could've done a better job differentiating between the various flags/symbols. I've basically given up on telling visually if that enemy wandering through my territory is yuan shu, yuan shao, or one of the half dozen others with the same basic color and shape. Instead, I just look for the little red trespassing indicator, which lets me know at a glance if that particular army is one that doesn't have permission to be there.

Yes it is, the game is more understandable, graphically warhammer is superior, the map is way way more clearer. You do not have the same coloured flags with the same design for empire factions. In this game all flags have the same design, most have the same colour, the only difference is the chinese characters on them. The end result is the campagin map is a mess and confusing. The units themselves are down graded graphically, and so is the the cities and terrain.

On the battlefield you have flags where you have been and so has the enemy. So you think your clicking on a unit only to find its some front line where a battle has been fought.

I think they have been influnced by steel division here, but when BOTH SIDES HAVE THE SAME TYPE OF FLAG, it is confusing.

Then you add the problem with people have similar names

so the got a big problem here

flags are the same design
flags with the same colour
only name on the flags are different
same or virtually similar names from factions

All the above does not matter to chinese people, as they may be familiar to the history and naming conventions. Also they will be able to read the flag names, not so with western gamers.

This is literally just a you problem. lmao

The graphics are also objectively the same, only the aesthetic is different. Sorry.

You are aware that you can scroll/zoom?

the art style/direction may be different but the graphics are the same. If you don't like your current setting, try changing the post effects from romance to records in the graphics options.

for campaign map, the flags are fairly different imo, maybe just take some time to remember them? you could also memorize by portrait, although that can be problematic if all the major characters die for w/e reason. alternatively you can always zoom out to the strategic mode and there'll be options for colouring. territory by owner/diplomacy/etc.

on the battlefield hold space, and your units and enemy units will be highlighted by colour underneath each individual troop. you can also lock this so it shows without holding space by checking the option on the right side of the screen while holding space. also if you see flags/bodies but no unit icon over them it's probably not a unit. really not sure how you'd have a problem with that unless you turned unit icons off.

Sorry man, but this is a personal problem. I have no difficulty understanding those points you have quoted.

Could not carleess if you have no problems you need to stop thinking of yourself and look at the game design and how other players interact with it.

I have to agree with the flag thing. The graphics are fine. The names take some time to get used to for westerners but you get used to it. But the flags really need better variation.

Aside from a few gripes with the UI I have no issues differentiating between my forces and the enemy. The campaign is quite easy to follow as well. There's definitely things I prefer about Warhammer's UI, but there's also improvements 3K makes in other aspects.
Tenshin51 May 31, 2019 @ 12:14pm
What?? Are you comparing a modded Warhammer UI to a 3K?

You do know the building UI and UI in Warhammer Vanilla is quite basic. I need some mods in WH to make WH Ui better.

There is also an option for alliance color in main menu for 3k there color coded even the characters are color coded.

Even in WH flags are quite basic and simplistic and some WH TW fans been wishing to have a flag bearers in WH.

if the flags are different why do i need to remember them? I do not need to remember a french flag to a american one. Why because they are so different. The fact you say i have to remember them is proof of what i am saying. You have numerous flags all the same design, same colour and with different characters. It is like all European powers have the same design as the american flag, but instead of 50 stars they have 4 or 10 or 15 . So in that context you would have to remember a flag A is for Prussia and ♥♥♥ B is for France. That is poor design and just too much work for a western gamer and it is not taking them into account. Now of course the chinese would know the above easily so the game is for them not the west

Also on the battlefield you see the same units, with the same dress, that you have to press space to see which is which. There was a reason the british wore red and the french wore blue.

Again, this is a you problem. I have no problem telling the flags apart. You see the Chinese symbols? How about the colors? That's right big guy, they're all different!
