No way, fill out your eastern stack with another general and a spear captain and use that stack to kill off Kong Rong. Station your other stack in Dong and build it up the same way, slowly as you can afford it (to deter your enemies from attacking your back). You may or may not lose Henei, but it really doesn't matter as food will not be as much of a problem as income. When the second army stack is built up and you have completely wiped out Kong Rong, use your "defensive" stack to take out the Dong iron mine.
Then it is just a matter of moving both stacks to within one turn of Langye (preferably try to end them in ambush stance). Then come at Lui Bei from both directions and siege Langye with BOTH armies and trap him inside. He should attack you or suffer massive attrition from the siege.
Either way once he is taken care of Yuan Shao should probably be knocking on your door by then and have taken Henei farmlands. He will probably have one and a half armies that are easily defeated with your two armies, kill them and take his land. By then you should have enough land and economy to build a third army and be both the dominant power in China and have killed off/crippled three of the biggest late game threats.
That is the way my game is going on normal/normal difficulty and I am finding it easier than any other faction to play.
Gongsun Zan is on the Northeast part of China. I'm not sure if I should go there.
