Did you get quests from the Empress that you failed? There must be a reason why the Jin Empire went to town on you. They do not behave at all like the Han Empire did in the base game though.
I am playing as the guy that starts all the way to the left (forgot his name), and I was at peace with the Jin for most of my game (even though the other princes kept offering me tons of money to go to war, but it would make me untrustworthy and I had decided that for once, I would play the as the good guy). Finally, I got to the point where it was convenient for me to go to war (or so I thought, their armies are way stronger than mine). To the south I was swarmed by 3 armies, managed to defeat the first but couldn't get away from the other two on time.
To the north I had my leader rushing the Jin silk and horse towns, what a mistake... their armies are way too advanced for me for now...
But I wouldn't say unbalanced, its more about preparation.
His archers are incredibly overpowered which never run out of arrows in battle. Not to mention their stats look strong for a melee as well.
Hey man this may have been the cause, the Empress told me to wage war against a faction, i opted to fund that war instead of directly declaring war at them, this could be the reason lol. I think you're playing as Sima Liang.
Sheer numbers man, i was having 700 troops, Jin Empire 1800+
By the sound of it you aren't even trying to raise an army. Not to mention in major troops differences you can also bait the enemy to assault your walls for additional advantages.
You need to stop caring about making a profit and defend your realm with soldiers, crushing enemy armies is easiest way to establish peace. Especially with Sima Ai you want to raise armies and conquer the entire south of China. Two full retinue generals are even enough to accomplish this task.
Nice, this gives me motivation to complete my campaign lol.
I restarted and did everything I could to stay on the Jin's good side, and finished the campaign without them ever being at war with me. Kind of boring but it worked.
I mean, one of my vassal got into a fight with the Jin Empire, and I have to join to keep them as my vassal. Now I have two borders to defend, something that many player would want to avoid.
That's what i'm planning to do as well. I think i refused to wage war against a faction that the Empress told me to, instead i chose to fund the war, yup sure enough Jin Empire declared war on me and massacred my army lol.
