Lyrics of Eight Princes Trailer is another ancient Chinese poem.
Like usual:)
It’s called “七步詩Seven Steps Verse”, it's composed by Cao Zhi曹植 who was one of Cao Cao’s sons. There are two versions, lyrics of this trailer are a mix of these two versions.

七步詩Seven Steps Verse
曹植Cao Zhi (192 AD - 237 AD)
Version 1
煮豆持作羹,漉菽以為汁。
萁在釜下燃,豆在釜中泣。
本自同根生,相煎何太急?
Translation:
People burn the beanstalk to boil beans,
filtering them to extract juice.
The beanstalks were burnt under the cauldron,
and the beans in the cauldron wailed:
"We were originally grown from the same root;
Why should we hound each other to death with such impatience?"

Version 2(This is the most famous and popular version, it’s recorded in the novel, Chinese children still learn this in elementary school.)
煮豆燃豆萁,
豆在釜中泣。
本是同根生,
相煎何太急?
People burn the beanstalk to boil beans,
The beans in the pot cry out.
We are born of the selfsame root,
Why should we hound each other to death with such impatience?"

There is a background story of this poem, you can read this if interested:

This poem originally is a metaphor that describes the ill-conceived notion of brothers or siblings hurting each other, but it also becomes a Chinese idiom to describe a person with outstanding eloquence. I've heard Japanese, Koreans and Vietnamese also understand this.

Personally I think this BGM is well done! Lyrics, melody and theme all blend in seamlessly. See I'm fair man. If you did good job, I'll praise you; if you did lousy job, I'll criticize you, despite you might ban me for it^_^

I remember this scene from the 2010 series. Cao Pi summoned Coa Zhi to court because he didn't attend Cao Cao's funeral or mourning ceremony. Cao Pi wanted to have Cao Zhi executed, but since he was his brother, he gave him a challenge.

Cao Zhi was known for being able to write a poem in 7 steps, hence the name of the poem. So Cao Pi asked him to write a poem about brothers in 7 steps, and if he was moved, he would allow him to live.

Apparently a lot of the court burst into tears as he read the poem. So he was allowed to live.

He's basically saying "my ancestors did not die for this sh*t"

Am I getting this interpretation right?

I forgot to say we can recruit Cao Zhi曹植 as strategist in game, I did in my palytrough, but he is one of those random generals with generic faces. Many random generals we see in game are actually real historical characters or famous characters in novel, but somehow they don't have unique portraits and unique 3D models, even their genders are mismatched sometime.

Yan liang wen chou should get their own portrait.
