Other way, you can destroy the faction which you want to make character to join your army.

From a game perspective, more than half the reason the legendary generals are good are their unique equipment. The unique abilities don't make nearly as much difference.

Get Guan Yus Green Crescemt Dragon glaive to a high level champion and you have 70% of Guan Yu (although tbf. Guan Yus Terror ability is really good)

From a role play perspective, you're frigging Lu Bu. Be like your adoptive father you murdered and cut off their heads and drink from their skulls.
