It's work very well, but with the hardest mode it just too much I think. They just sneak in don't even pick a fight. And most of the time their army are bigger than my.I can't set a trap with 3 armies against their 5 armies across the map. I just hope when I do that the other side of the kingdom will not get blow up by something else.
Use ambush as the other guy said. Use smaller armies or undefended settlements to lure the enemy.
Use items, ancillaries, skills etc to boost your army's movement distance. You can specifically equip and level a couple of heroes as a leaders for your homeland defense armies, and keep them deployed in frontline regions during wartime.
Use multiple armies to herd the enemy movement.
This is my favorite - use a mod that adds a 50% bonus to home region movement. This is logical as an army should have better knowledge of its home region and move faster. This would mean that you would usually be able to catch retreated AI armies in the same turn.
Very nice advices especially the mod, even if I'm not find it just yet.
Thank you sir.
I don't think so.
Best thing is to get the +15% campaign movement range reform ASAP, and make your commanding general a green/red/blue general who has the Reach upgrade, which gives 25% campaign movement range. You can also get some ancillaries for 5% or 10% extra movement range.
With all these movement range upgrades, in an open field area you will be able to catch up with a Benny Hill retreating army after a couple of turns. But if they are in a jungly or mountainous area or near a major river they can sail down, they will be able to abuse forced march and get away from you for longer.
In any case, when the AI is really abusing the hell out of forced march and cheesing the terrain to get away from you, the "press space" glitch is probably the best thing to do. CA seems to not care about how annoying the Benny Hill abuse of forced march is, since it's been around for a while (it ruined Warhammer for me) so you might as well strike back against them by using this glitch. You can press R on the campaign map to turn fast movement speed on or off. It has to be off for the space glitch to work.
If anything I would say the AI's abuse of forced march stance has gotten slightly worse since it can now also retreat from a battle even if you are able to catch it. While in Warhammer it of you were able to reach it while it was in forced march stance you could at least force it in to a fight.
