Are you having problems launching the game?

Hey all,

We're looking into an issue where the launcher closes after you press 'Play' but the game doesn't launch or immediately crashes.

Some players are reporting that this coincides with the 'Yellow Turban DLC' disappearing from their account, and that verifying their steam files is a potential fix. (Right-click 'Total War: THREE KINGDOMS' in your Steam library, go "properties" "local files" "verify integrity of game files") as seen in this thread: https://steamcommunity.com/app/779340/discussions/0/1640915206446599894/

If this is not working, adding your crashminidump, preferences.script, modified.log and dxdiag to this thread would greatly help us identify the problem.

1) start steam in offline mode and then launch the game. If that doesn't work, then we have work to do..
2) I went to my C drive (roaming files are located on your C drive, not necessarily the same drive where your game is installed) and searched "roaming", open roaming folder
3) then open "the creative assembly"
4) your games should be listed as folders
5) delete tw3k folder and try launching, if it still doesn't work then..
6) reinstall game and run. This will create new roaming files

I tried all of this but nothing.
All I get is the Total war loading splash. then it freezes on that img and I have to restart my pc to get rid of it.

Any other ideas guys and girls?

For me it was an immediate CTD right after the Three Kingdoms image. Do you have any mods installed? Manually or otherwise. Because if you do mods might have modified your files and reinstalling won't help. So you might want to try deleting your entire data folder via
1. Right clicking the game on steam and click properties
2. Game folder, then browse local data
3. Data and delete everything inside
4. Go back to the steam properties section and click verify integrity of game files.
5. Wait for it to reinstall all the files.

Other than that I'm lost at what to do as other options I've tried have failed.

PS: Sometimes your PC could be dusty (most case veyry dusty) so try opening it up and cleaning every nook and cranny of it. My DotA midgame crashes stop happening when I cleaned it up.

Deleted & Verified, still froze after reinstall.
No mods installed at all, all I have is the two DLC's added.

@Devs - Do we have any update on a fix?

Have the same problem. Game freezes after launch, i tried to reinstall, verify, and some other stuff but nothing worked. It just stupid that we have such problem in the game with this price.

im having this crash problem since yesterday:( ,verify integrity of game files and reinstall the game does not help,while in battle after a few minutes the game just crash down，with no reminder of any kind.PLS FIX

Game doesnt launch at all after clicking play on the Launcher.

The game was running fine with no crash whatsoever since day 1. I just got back from work today, and suddenly this thing couldn't launch at all.
I tried verifying and restarting with no result. I also tried some of the steps from the previous comments (deleting mods, .rar, etc), but the game still doesnt run at all. WTF is happening?
