Sun Jian Story Event

I'm aware of the story behind Sun Jian and how he dies but I have to ask what the benefit to this story event is. You pursue the enemy to follow the story but Sun Jian dies.

What do you gain out of this later because if you don't know it sounds like a gamble.

What makes you think there is any benefit to following the story? The Three Kingdoms period was one of the bloodiest and most pointless conflicts in history, which ultimately resolved itself for all of a couple of decades of peace under the dark horse Jin dynasty of the usurping Sima clan before falling right back into chaos.

Following the story creates a challenge for the player. Often, there is no benefit to completing the challenge.

A challenge is fine, I just didn't know if that event chained into other events that end up with more unique characters joining the faction or not.

I got Sun Ce event like couple turns after Sun Jian, screams mod fix needed

The probably exists purely for the sake of allowing the game to follow historical events as there is little to no chance of him or Sun Ce getting killed in battle within the game naturally (especially in Romance mode). And I suspect its there purely for the AI, since aside from getting different (not necessarily better) leader bonuses there is no benefit what so ever to killing off Sun Jian in the early event, especially given how quickly they can trigger.
