Would that fix the issue for you ? It's how I decided to fix it until I can mod birthrate/add legendary traits to babies.
No but really, I just presumed they stopped having babies at a certain age---my experience has been that the young wives has babies, but the older ones NEVER produce a baby.
The base chance for children in tables is 50 (%?) and each child lowers this by 10 or 12 (don't remember exactly). So after 4 children in the family your chances of getting more are next to 0, except some characters with "fertile" trait like Lady Wu.
When the second generation comes of age, the "free slots" for children are mostly occupied by their brothers and sisters.
After editing the values to 100 and 0, i kept hitting end turn and they made children like a rabbit farm, even a third generation. So it's just a question of tweaking the game files to hit a sweet spot.
I hope this is a priority...how did it make it out of beta with such a bug I wonder? Did people play the game? I mean, it's pretty clearly broken after 3 or 4 campaigns.
The only time I had a second Gen baby and it died, the gods are cruel
