Declawing the Tiger Event

First off, I am using the beta patch.

So after a few starts with Sun Jian, I finally got an event (right after Sun Ce comes of Age) called, Declawing the Tiger, in which we get to choose to kill off Sun Jian thus following the story...

How can I choose to kill him??? he is a boss, and down the road one of the best sentinal duelists in the game... I know its the story, but still...

Gonna have to do an official story run where I kill off all the people that are supposed to die :...(. But that will happen afterwards to guarentee that the events fire off when they are supposed too.

Sounds like a bug. Why would you get an event to kill your faction leader? You the player are Sun Jian. The events probably supposed to trigger for another faction.

It would make sense as the faction leader does die early on in the romance of the three kingdoms he gets hit by an arrow and dies later

In the story of three kingdoms, Sun Jian dies via an ambush that Lui Biao sets up. Sun Ce becomes the leader around age 16-18 or something like that. Sun Ce later also dies via an ambush/assaniation or something around the sage of 25 and Sun Quan then becomes the leader.

HENCE my dilemma. I can follow the story, or keep all my super cool characters alive... *sign*

You said you were playing as Sun Jian though.

That event would be for Lui Biao to attack Sun Jian and kill him.

So if you got that quest as Sun Jian it's a bug.

Suppose it’s just depends on how u want to play u never know if u follow the story line there’s could be something else like a big reward or a new hero or buffs u get I’m not sure

U can kill the tirante Dong Zhou when u play as him because Lu bu killed him and took over his faction kinda but u can do it so I don’t see why it wouldn’t allow for u to follow it as sun Jian if u follow the story it’s for extra challenge but it doesn’t have to be done

It's a way to opt out of the historical accuracy.

It's personal choice, such as when playing Liu Bei you can choose to keep Xu Shu (rather than let him leave triggering the discovery of Zhuge Liang).

There is normally a reward for a negative action.

I didn't get the event for Sun Jian (he died of old age), but did get it for Sun Ce. I think some of the events within the game could do with a bit of re-balancing. Since although they probably chose to base the options more and the story and role-play side of things, from a purely practical point of view many of the ones I have seen have one option that is clearly better than the others, so most players would just opt for that.

Did you give away the Imperial jade seal ? I keep it and Sun Jian is emperor now.

Nope. I always keep the seal. And i do not believe its a bug, its an option to stick to romance, much like all the other dilemmas.

Btw I dont think the story events are actually missions or the like. it's more like, if you want to follow the story do this. Missions like cao cao destroyinjg tao qing for rewards still pop up. The only difference is that I believe lu bu doesnt get inheritence stuff if you ignore story.

you don't need the seal to be emperor, but i don't find the logic of giving it up because that would be to admit I committed treason. who would be stupid enough to surrender evidence of his own crimes and pretend all is well after that!

ive been getting the event where you chase someone and get ambushed as sun jian or decide not to, but now its not happening... you know now that im trying to get events to trigger because wanting xiao sisters... now that im looking for stuff nothing triggers. What am i doing wrong i keep having to start over because its obviously not happening 50 turns in for sure. The declawing the tiger i know for a fact is supposed to happen really quick, am on turn 14 already in the thick of fighting liu biao and the two other guys. Even trying to play differently or as i normally would every other time it triggered in the past playing him, just being a warmonger but nothing now.

mods yes, but it triggered with them before. Even disabled them for now i just wanted to trigger the event and figured the mods might have messed with it somehow. reinstalled game after i started out declaring myself emperor right away along with three others, and then huang guy declaring emperor next game. Stuff is borked lol. turned mods off for a bit even if they make the game more fun for me
