Total War: THREE KINGDOMS

Total War: THREE KINGDOMS

Why this game needs an Avatar conquest mode
I see a lot of post about how Three Kingdoms may be the best Total War game ever. I agree, but not fully, because the multiplayer aspect seams to be ignored or forgotten in those reviews and player accolades.

I am personally a long time franchise fan and player. Been playing since the original Shogun with the exception of some of the franchise's games that I didn't like the setting of gameplay of. And for me Shogun 2 was, and still is, the pinnacle of this franchise because it was a full developed game in all of it's aspects. Both single and multi player. It was a game that had a very unique art stile, brought many new ideas and improvements into the Total War franchise, fantastic music, great general speeches and very importantly expanded the multiplayer part of the game into something very new, fresh and engaging for hundreds of thousands of players. I am talking of course about the Avatar multiplayer mode, or as it's called the Avatar conquest.

I went and wrote a lot about this subject on my blog:

Blog post [theloadingscreen.video.blog]

# But, long story short:

I think that the Creative Assembly needs to realize that they have a excellent opportunity here to make a new massive Avatar mode based on the three generals systems with basic and advanced units, based on the Records mode of the Three Kingdoms. As they already have many of the advanced customization system already in place in the singleplayer part of the game.

With the cancellation of Total War Arena it might be the perfect time and place to make a new Avatar conquest mode in China and offer it to ever growing number of fans and players of the Total War franchise. In the today's world of game exposure with E-sport, game streaming and other platforms for sharing gameplay live I think this game mode could become a large hit for years to come.

Do you agree with me or do you have reasons to disagree?

If you read my blog post you will learn all about the Avatar mode in Shogun 2 and how it could look in Three Kingdoms.
I couldn't care less about avatar conquest if it requires multiplayer.

I just want customisation for generals in singleplayer. It's long overdue.
Who's calling this the best TW game? lol. Maybe the best since Shogun 2, but that ain't exactly a high bar.

Shogun 2 being probably the best Total War there is, it is a high bar.

I can tell you from the perspective of an outsider who doesn't like total war particularly, even if I bought Shogun 2 and the 2 warhammers, I already sunk more hours into three kingdoms than all of these combined. It is definitely above average, and a lot more accessible. That might alienate "true" fans but from many perspectives, it is one of the better ones, if not the best.
I found Shogun 2 quite disappointing as a sequel to Shogun. It was missing various features/systems and everything it added just made me feel severely limited despite being a Daimyo.
Shogun 2 is kind of boring due to all factions being the same. Play one and you played them all. Sure you start at a different place but in the late game it's all the same.

That is exactly what avatar conquest fixed by letting players use any unit and editing them as veterans.
No, since that was exclusive to multiplayer, I couldn't care less about multiplayer in total war games. I just want to play campaigns.

That's where the customisation matters because there you have lots of armies and might want them or at least the generals to look different.

Who cares, theres enough of a demand and market for better multiplayer. I'm sure soon enough there will be plenty of mods that allow you to do what you want in single player without need of CA

Could you be more specific about missing features, it may have been a long time but I don't remember Shogun 1 having any features that are missing from Shogun 2, besides the one man red monster samurai.

The SP crowd at least has the option to mod the game as they like, and add what they want. Us, the MP players don't even have that choice. We are at the mercy of the developers and the publisher.

I wish so much there was at least one person working for CA that was a MP fan. It would help us get heard where it matters, at the CA HQ.

My personal opinion is that medieval 2 is the best total war game.
