Recruiting Zhao Yun?
I know the recent update it made it possible to recruit him into Lei Bei but how the hell does this work at all?

Basically I think the marriage system has to do with it as zhao in history his mission at the battle of chang ban was to save his wife which was a pretty big army in that time..

Zhao wasn't able to save liu beis wife.. But was able to save his son killing many generals and soldiers of cao cao...

1 man vs 1000... Just like zhang fei.

I think the coding is right between the turns of 8 and 28.. But I also think you need a spouse and a heir.. Between these turns I have done this about 5 times and worked... The other I haven't married and it failed.. With event

But it only ever happened when I withdrawn from a battle.. But the times I withdrawn from battle liu was married.

Its a random event, ive seen it never in my five campaigns. There is a whole reddiy thread on event characters like xu shu, dian wei, sima yi, zhao yun etc. Basically there is a window where you can get him. If you weren't lucky, you have to do it the old fashion way. Save scumming works to a certain extent . You can do something different before end turn and you might get him. Load and do something different if you did not

Vassalize, then annex. I have Cao Cao and Xiahou Dun and Sun Jian is still alive on my current playthrough. So I have Sun Jian, Sun Ce, Sun Quan, Sun Ren, Cao Cao, Xiahou Dun, Zhou Yu and Sima Yi (Huang Gai recently passed away :<).

I assume that's the old fashioned way Nyuk mentioned. :D

Any chance for a link to that thread?

Win a battle between turns 9 and 28. That's the only condition. What made it not work was that the event trigger could get buried, so if too many things happened all at once in a turn where you won a battle, it would get pushed to the back of the queue and not occur.

So you just constantly vassilize then Anex ? Does it affect you're treachous level or something?

It does, yeah, but so long as you are maintaining a vaguely strong presence near to your vassals, "persuading" them against declaring war against you, it won't matter too much except on the hardest difficulty settings. If you can get a whole bunch of vassals together before starting to annex them all, that would be the better way to go about it - the cooldown timer is 5 turns or so, which means you can grab most of them long before they feel like rebelling.

Just be ready to deal with huge amounts of corruption as a result. Your income will likely actually drop despite the added territory, *because* of the added territory making it easier for the corrupt officials and suchlike to steal your income.

Still, even with the entire map painted your colour, by the very end-game of your reforms and structure upgrades you can reduce all but a handful of commanderies down to 0% corruption. The only exceptions, if I recall, are Wuwei and Shuofang (in the northeastern corner where Ma Teng and Han Sui start) and Yizhou Island, because they have either one or no adjacent commanderies to help with reducing it.

Yizhou Island needs an administrator, the others you can do without.

Got to lose a battle. On liu bei. I faced huang. At battle of dong.. After about 10 turns.. It was a losing battle as he had pei join him but I though ♥♥♥♥ it.. I'll just jump in and duel the generals as guan and fei are pretty op..

After the battle I decided I will not risk many troops so just took out there generals.. And withdraw fr battle.. After that I ended up getting the event of zhao yun has come to aid liu bei..

I believe it triggers when liu is defeated in battled or wounded?.. Not 100% sure on it but.. I had got it after I faced 1 stack of full enemy's and another half stack.. And just fighting there generals and withdrawing...

So pretty much Lei Bei has to get wounded or close to death and retreat?

Might not be either win or lose a battle then. May well be just "have a battle". There is a post somewhere detailing the code process quite extensively. Copied it out for others to examine too.

I have restarted my campaign about 8 times playing as lui bei and I have got him at least 80% of the time by turn 10.. Fighting haung at dong and withdrawing.. I think it has to be a very very large force as that is how zhao join liu in the first place.. In history.. I believe it something to do with the event of chang ban in history thay triggers it so it will be liu bei retreating.. Against a much larger force... And zhao yun held them off and saving his son in chang ban.

But I seeked spouse at the start of my campaign playing as liu.. Theb I withdraw.. I think it invokes a son also as history had it zhao aved liu son..

80% of the tome this has worked for me.

So it would be going in and losing the fight and falling back?

Found the thread about the code and chances.[forums.totalwar.com]

The event tends to get buried under a lot of others and thus doesn't trigger if it gets pushed to the back of the queue.
