RIP first Total War. It was cool to use Live Action cutscenes.
3000 hours in Dota 2
Well that explains a lot.
Whining.
Either get over yourself(Selves, referring to the massive horde of man baby's going on and on about things like this.) Or try to remember just how stupidly powerful the generals units used to be in Total War II medieval and Total War Rome. Killing 400 people was easily achievable if you micro'd your generals unit correctly, considering how powerful shock cav and melee cav were in those titles.
The only change is that they took the powerful units and replaced them with a singular unit with a name and unique animations.
Nobody cares how stupidly upset you can be over the fact China exists either.
You just completely outed yourself with that statement.
TW fans want at least a semblance of realism instead of gamey crap with special magical abilities, super-powerful marvel comics generals and fantasy units.
In that regard, 40 bodyguard units killing 400 >>>>>>>>>>>>>> 1 superhero general unit killing 400.
Keep the warhammer-esque crap to the warhammer titles, and while I dont mind the Chinese choice it quite frankly looks like they've picked it just so that they can do whatever while few know better.
Probably going to base their ideas on the overblown Chinese cinema depictions too, that's the level we can expect.

Too many kids never played the first Total War.
Don't you just love it when people think they speak for an entire group? Especially when the numbers show otherwise?
yup
It's also funny when people think that a single hero in Total Warhammer actually can solo a whole army. Man, my playthroughs would have been SO much easier if that were true. lol
I like to see how CA is going to strike the balance between Fantasy and historical. What I learn from playing Fantasy TW and Historical TW, sometimes being too historical accurate can be boring. I won't mind sacrificing historical accuracy for fun.
It really depends on who CA is targeting TW3K for. If they are targeting ROTK fans, you definitely will see OP Lords. If they are targeting historical fans, I think they wont be doing a TW3K instead a medieval or gunpowder era.
It could be possible CA is also experimenting a hybrid between historical & fantasy TW. TW3K is not a fantasy TW, if it was you will be seeing fking dragons & flashy armors. What we are seeing in TW3K is unit rosters, structures, Geography & others reflecting Han Dynasty era except for Heroes with superhuman feat nonetheless non-magical.
I feel that the community is really split between fantasy and historical accuracy but its really a small issue. One easiest way to solve this problem is to have a dual mode similar to Diablo 3 normal and hardcore. TW could have a normal mode with squishy & killable lords while a Romance mode that makes the lords immortal & have superhuman capabilities. Hence, killing 2 birds with one stone.
But the lords in TW3K are not my biggest concern. I want TW3K to be awesome and offer long-term replayability..so far, shogun 2 & Warhammer 1 are the only 2 games I play above 800 hours. So, I hope CA would make a pre-Han expansion setting in the warring states and also making a Warlord era (rifles) with those Beiyang army + those military cliques similar to fall of the samurai. By the time they release Med3 or Viktoria, I want TW3K to be still relevant similar to how they roll out Empire divided for Rome 2.
Go and look at the Thrones of Britannia promotional gubbins, and while you do bear in mind that is for a game that's a *historical* standalone Attila expansion.
Compare and contrast, the style vs the gameplay of eg Attila, then tell me this game's trailer can't be the trailer for a proper history game.
They probably think solitare is a friggin MOBA!
King of Spades is OP, pls nerf. Three of Clubs is too weak, pls buff
Generals dueling = Fantasy.
Napoleon not dying in battle after "wounding him" 100x = Historically accurate.
You: "I will never by total war again"
CA: *Victoria/Medieval 3/Empire 2 announced*
You: *Heavy Breathing*
