I'm told in next month's Dynasty Warriors title, Lu Bu can literally chase you all the way across China. From Hulao Gate to Guanzhou in the south. (No one of the devs literally mentioned that Lu Bu can now chase you all the way across China.)

sorry his name is not lu bu, his name is Lv Bu. Please say it in Chinese accent: Lv Bu. Of course he was one of the war lords in three kindom period. He was one of the main enemies of Cao Cao and Liu Bei. He had a well equiped troop called Xian Zhen Ying. But finally he was destroyed by Cao Cao and Liu Bei's leagues. I think you can choose him and conquer whole east asian and become the only emperor of the new dynasty which you created.

This is actually a misconception. His name is Lü Bu (吕布) which was made into Lu Bu in english on purpose. It is V in pinying but the real letter is ü which looks like U with two dots on it and it is treated as a vowel. V takes place instead of U because there is no pronunciation that resemble the sound V in Chinese and there is no letter key for ü. Even among native chinese speakers we would use U if we are just typing it out in english. U is recognized as ü if the letter starts with Y because there is no words spelled with the sound Yu so you will get Yü regardless if you use U or ü with Y.

Essentially U can be used as ü if the word cannot be sound into a word with U as the only vowel (since Yuan can be sounded out but Yu cannot). There is no sound for V and any foreign word with V is replaced by the sound of W instead which leaves V to fill the role of ü in pinying on computer only.

It was made into Lu Bu on purpose because no non-native Chinese speaker is gonna be able to pronouce Lv Bu if they never heard of the ü sound. Also, for someone who knows Chinese, its still easier to read Lu Bu in english because if that person isn't familiar with using computer that person would not recognize Lv Bu. My real complain when it comes to spelling is why they spelled Sun Zi （孙子）is spelled Tzu in English for some reason which resemble the Japanese Tsu つ more.

Also Lü Bu is actually pre-three kingdom period. He is often connected to Three Kingdom because he is in the Romance of Three Kingdom Novel which the story begin around the Fall of Han and is concluded after the end of the Three Kingdom period. Lü Bu died prior to the formation of Wei Shu and Wu in 220 AD when Cao Cao abdicated the Emperor Liu Xie (刘协) and placed his son Cao Pi (曹丕) as the new Emperor offically creating Wei. Lü Bu isn't recognized as a 诸侯 (Feudal lord/prince/ warlord) like Cao Cao, Sun Jian, and technically Liu Bei (since he was declared the 19th 路诸侯 as somewhat of a joke by Cao Cao) but he did die still holding a postion of general within the Han government.

Also I pursue Lü Bu. I conviced Lü Bu to become one of my general in San Gokushi and I married Diao Chan and Lü Bu's Daughter as well just for giggles. I also took his treasure items (red hare and his halberd) and executed him when he betrayed me as a result of the extremely low loyalty.
