One of the 3 kingdoms' founder (the kingdom of Wu) is supposedly a direct descendant of Sun Tsu. It might be BS but it shows that people at that time already put Sun Tzu in high regard. I believe one of the characters frequently applied Sun Tzu's words of "swift as wind, calm as forest, fierce as fire, unshakable as mountain" into his tactics.
Overated in it's obviousness.
