Please do not use gendered language in achievements :(
So I was playing Amorous last night and my character is a feminine-presenting AMAB queer person. Lex was the first person I dated and I really enjoyed her storyline, and then I dated Mercy next. They are both very well-written characters and very good depictions of non-binary and trans persons.

I opened Amorous last night after not playing for a month. I decided to change my wardrobe to a look that was more fitting to how I've been feeling IRL lately, since my last playthrough I never changed my clothes. Then, I was greeted to this:

https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/782986727575558565/DAB42C579A45CE4521EC6CEC1AB348CBA1F17D2D/?imw=1024&imh=576&ima=fit&impolicy=Letterbox&imcolor=%23000000&letterbox=true

Being told that "Clothes Maketh Man" as a feminine-presenting queer person was really triggering :\ I was raised in an extremely Catholic household and I still live at home, so Amorous is just one way that I can dip my feet in the water to express my real gender identity.

Being called a man completely took me out of the immersion and ruined my urge to play the game for the night. I had to take a break from my computer because of how turned off I was from playing any game. I'll be honest, it made my depression even stronger than it already was. I was hoping that it would get better by today, but it hasn't so I'm posting now for anyone else.

how actually transphopic of my furry visual novel. I am absolutely disgusted by the gaul of these people. Pat deserves compensation due to feminine presenting assigned at birth male queer misgendering.

Agreed. I hate misgendering in videogames.

woman - wo = man so it could theoretically mean man or woman :p ((I'm just stupid so sorry if this somehow offends someone))

Am i the only one that is tired of the non-binary/trans persons that get butt hurt over the smallest things. Just be happy that is a non-binary/Trans person character in there in the first place and learn to live in a World that doesn't around you for what you like and don't like. If i got made every time i got butthurt the world would be on fire, but I'm a grown man that learned how the world works and not been a B about it.

CLOTHES MAKE THE MAN -- "Appearances count for a lot. A similar expression was current among the ancient Greeks: 'The garment makes the man.' In the form 'apparel makes the man' the idea turned up in England as early as the 16th century. A century later it was sometimes put as 'the taylor makes the man." From "The Dictionary of Cliches" by James Rogers (Ballantine Books, New York, 1985). A second source points out that a similar phrase was used by William Shakespeare in "Hamlet."

I can't tell if you're pulling and R/woosh or not, but that achievement isn't commenting on your characters gender (Or your IRL gender identity for that matter) It's simply a common expression. If you're actually "triggered" by it then it's by your own volition

I can't believe you would say that! I was just trying to share my concerns with the community on how triggering to some people being called "man " can be! Don't you have any empathy? :lunar2019scowlingpig:

Next you'll say that since "they" hasn't always been used as a single-person pronoun, that historically speaking we shouldn't allow non-binary people to be called "they" :lunar2019deadpanpig:

Way to go, you completely ignored the argument and turned it into a poor assumption of my character (Also known as a Straw Man)

I always feel disgusted everytime people using words like "triggered", "Toxic" etc. in gaming Forums for meaningless reasons.

Imagine getting upset over a cheeky achievement title that references a common figure of speech and isn't even referring to you or your character.

Yikes.
VOLTZ3 Sep 21, 2019 @ 1:41am
Isn't the use of "man" just used in the context as a term? I don't understand getting upset over this wording, it just allows the achievement name to run smoothly as they had intended, they had to choose a name somehow.

After doing some research I can confirm this is a historical and commonly used term, found in Shakespeare, Mark Twain, referenced as far as the ancient Greeks, therefore the use of the quote is perfectly fine to say in any circumstance.

Trolling bait perhaps?

Maybe or maybe not, you can't be sure with people who have Private Profiles.

I can't believe you're being so disgusting to one of my best friends, Pat. Xe's such a kind person and you guys actually going out of your way to attack him really shows what people think of people like us.
