PSA: You can use a PSP save from Corpse Party 1 for the save transfer feature.
So I don't know if this is widely known or not, but I did some snooping and couldn't find anyone talking about it.

Basically, I bought BoS, saw that the "No Corpse Party save data found" message was intact from the PSP version, and assumed they either forgot to take it out or rejiggered it to use a Blood Covered save (Don't have Blood Covered on Steam, can't confirm). Just for fun I tossed a PSP save for CP1 into the save folder in the BoS directory expecting nothing, but it worked. So that's a thing you can do I guess.

For those who don't know, doing this unlocks all the Corpse Party 1 (PSP) CG scenes in the gallery, and makes unlocking chapter 8 a little easier (Just get the real ending in each prior chapter, as opposed to every single ending).

Whoa! That works? It is indeed converted to work with BloodCovered, but I absolutely didn't expect PSP data to "just work" since it's usually got an additional header or some basic encryption.

I'm not sure if it really reads the file properly, but I guess that wouldn't necessarily stop it from working if the data it reads still meets the conditions of the checks... The code to read RepeatedFear's data was left in "just because", but I really didn't expect it to work, so I just saw it as something harmless that I didn't need to remove.

The intended way for this version is definitely to carry over from BloodCovered, but on the bright side, this method can't cause any damage to the game since it only sets one flag (art) based on the save's existence and a second flag (chapter 8 unlock condition easing) based on the save containing data of a proper completion of the game.

Wow, I figured you guys might've known about this and just been unable to publicize it due to legal mumbo jumbo with Sony, didn't think I was discovering something unknown to y'all as well. For the record, I grabbed the first save on GameFAQs and just tossed the files in. Looking at it again, another weird thing I noticed is that it's just a system.bin and a param.sfo file. Not even any data#.bins, which are the actual saved states I believe, and I was under the impression you needed to make a proper save before the transfer would work on PSP. Super weird all around.

The individual files contain the in-game saves, but the system data file contains the clear flags, which is all that's actually needed for the transfer. It's likely that the system data is simply not created until you have an actual saved game in BR on PSP.

Edit: That said, it should NOT give you a chapter 8 unlock condition easing based on just the existence of the file. It specifically checks the chapter clear flags in the file for that.

Yes, I understand that. The existence of the file is indeed enough to unlock the CG.
That applies to BC as well.

However, the Chapter 8 unlock condition being eased is related to save flags, so blank/empty files should not work in either case (BR or BC) for the Chapter 8 part.

That's all I meant, basically.

Ohhh, never knew there was a technical distinction between unlocking the CG and getting the chapter 8 easy unlock. I guess this might not work for the latter then, kinda wanna speedrun the game just to check, lol.

Wait what? Nice!
Sorry to revive an old thread, but I seam to be having an issue. Played through the first game on PSP and purchased it on Steam as a means of unlocking the final chapter, but so far it hasnt been able to recognize it. After coming across this post, I decided to import a PSP save and voila, we've unlocked CG from the original game. However nothing from Blood Drive and the Chapter doesn't appear even though we've gotten all the true ends in the game. Once again I apologize for reviving an old thread.
