Fix your game. If I wanted to play around with settings and use save states, I'll will just rip the game off my disc and run it better on an emulator that actually works. When customers purchase your game, they expect it to work especially for those who are not familiar with emulators. Even when I launched the game, I was expecting a configuration menu to open first or a choice between launching options and launching the game before playing, not take a guess by hitting ESC or right click to access the options which are an absolute joke anyways. Also, the CRT effect looks gross, I can do a better job replicating CRT in Retroarch and I am an amateur & your team are supposed to be professionals.
PSX-Reloaded does support virtual memory cards but older versions required bios to use them. It is possible Piko maybe using an older version of PSX-Reloaded and are not able use bios for legal reasons. Whatever the case maybe, it does not excuse their poor effort in this port job.
I would suggest just spending money on a physical Playstation copy (about $25) and ripping it via Retroarch. Sure it costs a little more but you would not be spending money to support a hack job.
The PS1 version is not their game, the Nintendo 64 release is. This was a bonus incentive they made available down the line later.
Either way, you can just use EPSXE or DuckStation, since it's emulation.
