Make a Movie or Play a game Making a movie?
In a very un-scientific analyses there seems to be a dividing wedge between the two. Many love the idea of just "making" a movie to the extent you can at the K-board. Others lean toward the "tycoon" side of things. But we all, I suspect, are resigned to being "mid-lers" pushing for that perfect blend of the two. Which puts the devs in that most precarious of positions, trying to please one segment without sacrificing the hope and expectations of the other. Just for chuckles, where would you like to see the most emphasis deployed and why...

I would like to have the "make a movie" aspect mostly, but with monetary and studio restrictions, hiring of staff, ect.

A tycoon aspect is fine as long as you include a sandbox mode so you can make and export movies.

I would prefer the "Make a Movie", but I imagine that is harder than making a tycoon game.

I'm greedy, so want an equal emphasis on both aspects.

Now that I'm thinking, I side more with making a movie. If I could "produce" a feature that's entertaining, different, fun -- a real crowd pleaser, whether or not it garnered "in game" recognition, awards and world reknown would in no way induce me to a farewell leap from atop the Beverly Hills Hilton.

I always enjoyed the buildup / simulation part of the old "The movies" but I understand everyone who wants mostly a tool to become creative without having to deal with the simulation aspects of the game. I agree with those who suggest a sandbox mode of the game for everyone who wants to focus entirely on movie making.
