Does anyone else find it weird so many old games have the family cursed by a native person for ancestors grievous sins?
Let's just set aside whether this is racist and ask: why are there so many?!?

I can think of like 5 games off the top of my head where "shamans" have cursed whole families because an ancestor committed heinous crimes.

And why can't they just curse the guy responsible and be done with it.

Because why imagine something new if you can use some good old clichés.

New Theory: hidden object games had something of a boom in the 90s. And as anyone who was in them can remember there was a large period of interest in Native Americans.

Possible Complications: A big Hallmark of the 90s Native American craze was that Native villains became vanishingly rare. Though perhaps it would be better to call her an antagonist. A lot less rare, but still unusual. A trend that has mostly lasted until today.

There's a lot of themes layered in the subtext of her story. Things the writers likely never considered. It's pretty interesting, tracing through the inspirational ancestry of each thread you can find a lot of very fascinating history.
Though, the nature of time being what it is, the most robust stuff starts to taper off as we head through the 19th century. Curse you, nature of lost media!
