Girls romanzing gay guys?
What's the point of getting to pick your gender under "stats" if the characters in the game are gay guys none the less?
It seems a bit offensive that the game promotes girls romancing gay guys in an effort to basically turn them straight so they can be human again.

My suggestion is that the gender choice either should matter to the dialog, so those that pick being a girl can romance straight guys or gay girls, OR that the player don't get to pick a the girl gender and it's just a game about a gay gay romanzing gay guys and the design options can instead be reworked to focus on designing a dream guy for the guys.

Edit:
Just to be clear. I like the overal design of the game; it's just this one thing that irks me. I'm all for a game about gay, bi and straight relationships, but not the promotion of the idea that it's okay to try and turn people into going against their sexuality . Some of the guys seems to identify themselves as gay in the script, so it's offensive to show that girls should ignore what they are saying and still try and make them fall for her - even if it's just to succeed in a game. It promotes the idea that sexuality is a choice and that it is ok to manipulate people's sexuality.

Edit 2;
Also, don't anyone find it questionable that the protagonist exploits the guys’ bad situation to his/her advantage; making them go out on date with her/him even though they go not seem that happy about it?

Well when you consider that the character you play as is pretty much a girly (based on the reactions in scenes) blue blob as opposed to an avatar (an understandable design choice even though I'm not fond of it) and the dialog for most of the guys can lead one to believe they are hetero or homosexual (except the really gay guy whom irritates the heck outta me) it is best to just assume they are Bi-sexual. Though it would be a nice touch if they were straight guys turning gay for you and vice-versa depicted in the dialog. I completely agree with that. I'd also like to see the little blue blob react more masculine or feminine dependent on your gender (by redrawing the scenes to be more gender specific)

Though I wouldn't get my hopes up. I doubt they're re-direct their course based on our preferences.

I'm with you, Wayne. I think the Marshmallow in this game seems a bit effeminate whether you choose the boy or girl. It might be the pose (hand on hip), but I think the arched eyes also seem more feminine. I think the avatar in the Crush Crush game seemed much more neutral. I felt that my avatar looked like a boy in that game and the girl looked like a girl. Not a girly girl, but still female. In this one, when I switch between boy and girl, it just looks to me like a girl without eyelashes and obvious breasts.

Still, in my opinion the avatar and the blob in the picture look too much alike for us to not draw a connection between the two. My immediate though when seeing them was that the blob design is a representation of the player's character as there is no other characters with that design in the story. If they didn't mean to do that, they should have keep the avatar gender neutral (giving no gender option) or in some way made a clearer destiction between the two blobs.

When talking to Nimh, he said he is homosexual and asks if I'm looking for a boyfriend, which does not fit with the devs' choice to let us play as girls. Eli also talks about gay topics, not bi topics or being interested in being with girls.

Edit: The gay "topic" refer to the gay-jokes.

Where exactly is the canon confirmation that any of the men in Blush Blush are actually gay? If anything, like the girls in Crush Crush, they'd be bisexual because they fall in love with Marshmallow regardless of the gender you set for the player character.

I just checked Nimh's dialogues and the closest thing he says to what you said he does is: I’m not sure if you’re looking for a boyfriend. But it just so happens that I’ve been looking to BE a boyfriend. Do you want… A boyfriend?

I've searched for instances of him mentioning he's homosexual, I can't find them. As for Eli, he's definitely the most flamboyant of the guys but even he's bi. Early (when he's a pegasus) he mentions "Want to know what a gay pegasus eats? It's HAAAAAAAAAY! - though, this seemed to a joke as his dialogue later he says (Friendzoned): Don't be shy, darling. I'm a bit of a pendulum - I swing both ways. If you've got a friendly smile and a hard body, I wouldn't mind a snuggle.

Like Ring said, all the guys are bisexual, just like the girls in Crush Crush, as they fall in love with the avatar regardless of gender.

I have done a few play-throughs also, but not found the dialog again. Just the one you mentioned. I remember there were some dots in the text as well, so I know it's a different one to the one you're refering to, though.

However, not being able to find which it was, is frustrating. Even if it is something I read wrong I would like to know what it really said in that case. *sigh*

Thanks for the help though! :D

I feel like you probably misread or misinterpreted something that Nimh said. I've been playing this game since shortly after the release and Nimh has NEVER said anything about being gay, nor have any of the other guys aside from Eli.

Eli admits that he "swings both ways" and openly shows an interest in Volks, so he's canonly confirmed bisexual by his own admission, but he's the only one so far to do so.
No-Bark Aug 4, 2019 @ 1:34pm
None of the guys have said they're gay, and despite Eli being quite really gay-ish, he does say "I swing both ways" if you have the voices on. And that's probably because Eli does seem very gay. Besides, the character you're playing as is literally just a colorless blob (and so are the other non-dateable characters...)

I don't think it was a problem in Crush Crush and I don't think it's a problem in Blush Blush. After all it really isn't that big a deal. If nobody explicitly says their sexual orientation is X, you shouldn't think their sexual orientation is X.

Gurl, where? :P
But seriously, if you want to, you can check the Crowdin for the translation, every line of dialogue is in there (from Nimh to Garret). I've been helping with the French translation and I think everything is pretty neutral (except for Eli). And I,m trying to translate it in a way that'd stay neutral too, 'cause I think it's important that girls AND boys feel invested in the game. But if you actually find something that suggests the protagonist is considered to be male or female, I think that yeah, you should suggest changing that. As for Eli, I'm happy there's a mainly gay character! All my life I've been playing games where every guy is straight, so I'm glad there's a character I can relate to :P
SneakyGremlin Aug 24, 2019 @ 4:50am
What? There's nothing in this game that claims the sexual orientation of these characters. Well except for Eli, he's kind of obvious. I think it's much up for your own interpretation.
CaptainAzazel Sep 2, 2019 @ 9:19pm
"Gay" is an umbrella term now, bc it's been used as one for decades (gay rights, gay pride, gay marriage, gay community, etc) so it's safe to say that, fr ex, Eli is using gay in that way.

Most bi/pan folks I know will use gay to refer to ourselves from time to time, so it didn't faze me at all to see it used to mean "LGBTQ+"
