Markiplier has played Blush Blush
After finding out about his semi-appearance-reference in Blush Blush, Mark spent 3 DAYS and 100$ to find and complete his character.

Here's the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ysROgI5qDL8 (2 hours)

After watching the video, what do you think Mark's thoughts were on the game and his character?

I'm more annoyed at the youtube comments at this point. The ignorant masses really just...ugh.

To be honest I think he rather enjoyed the game though I think he would have liked that one of the Devs spoke to him first. (He wouldn't have put $100 into the game if he didn't like it.)

Just watched it a few short hours ago. I get it, sort of. He's a straight dude. Not his jam to persue boys, much less furry boys. Was still excited to see him play a game that I was playing though. I'm glad he at least loves Garret (Bull Boy). I kind of still wished he kind of game more thoughts about his and Jackscepticeye's inspiration toward ichiban in more legal? terms? Like is it ok? I have no idea.

...game's not about furries. People really need to stop mislabeling.

The Shaggy Dog film series isn't a furry franchise, and neither is this.

There is at least one Furry in this game and another character mentions how nice Furries are in reality. it's not a reach to label the game as something when it keeps being mentioned in the game. Also most of the boys in this are furry. They have fur, a few have feathers, but most have fur.

You messed up your reply a bit there. You have the wrong people on the quotes.

As for the rest, we'll agree to disagree, since I find a far larger distinction than just "there's animals, it is *must* be furries!" :P

Yeah, but "furry" characters run a scale. Anthros/weres, sure, but humans with distinct animal features also count. Talking animals may/may not count, if you look at the origins of furry fandom, and the characters themselves move from talking animal to mostly human *while you're dating them.*

You don't need to ask someone's permission to base a character on them. He's not even mentioned by name. If the character was named Markiplier, AND it was an unfavorable misrepresentation of him, then it would be a different story.

You could still argue it's a bit disrespectful to put someone in a dating sim without their knowledge, but I personally the think it's vague enough for it to be kinda silly for someone to have a problem with it. Mark is entitled to feel however he feels about it, but there's not much he can do about it.
It would be bad optics for Mark to go after them legally, as it could very much look like he would be doing so simply because the dating sim itself is rather queer-coded, since there are lots of other creative work that references him that he's had no problem with in the past.

Actually, I watched the video out of curiosity when it was mentioned. I didn't really care for it since he spent most of the video making excuses for playing the game and it came off less funny to me and more "I don't want people to think I'm gay." But regardless, he never said anything about having a problem with being in the game. He made a bit of a joke about it any time he found a similarity, but he brought up a lot of things that didn't match up with him. Most of the real similarities were pretty incidental and could have referenced any number of YouTubers. The biggest things that make people think it's him is the voice (similar, but it's a voice actor who had a deep voice. Lots of guys have deep voices and anything more cutesy probably wouldn't have fit the character) and the colored hair. The thing is, lots of YouTubers have colored their hair. It's actually really common. Common enough that it fits to have a YouTube character with multicolored hair. In the end, Makiplier made some jokes and than put a bunch of money into the game. That doesn't strike me as someone who is upset about a vague likeness. If he's not upset, no need to be upset on his behalf.

Another thing to remember is that Markiplier himself is also a character, which is why he often does an over the top masculine act while playing video games. A lot of Mark's comments are joking around he is an entertainer and Markiplier is just one of his many personas he has used though it's the one we see the most. Like an exaggerated version of himself with a few extra tweaks.

At the end of the day he looked like he was having fun, and most of the comments were not so much about the look of the character but the things the character said, like being the "KING of 5 nights at Freddy's..." Um well almost. ;)

In the game you're literally romancing people that became animals. This is undoubtedly a game for furries. :lunar2019deadpanpig:

for what I've seen, furries look like overly sexualized animals with humanlike features, these only look animal / human with tail and ears / human turnout. There is a certain word for these types of 'furries' but it's definitely not furry, it's just mislabeled, because there are animals.
